“Now, apparently, they have been mandated to deny all effective pain medication to veterans.”
Confused at the statement. I just had surgery at the Loma Linda Jerry Pettis VA facility. All efforts for my comfort were apparent throughout the procedure, and appropriate pain relief was properly prescribed.
Aside: I’ve noticed the VA generally overall has been cited as deficient when actually a handful of Facilities across the nation seem to be administered by leadership playing the system for increased bonuses for themselves at the expense of my fellow veterans. This can be fixed easily with some administrative adjustments inclusive of elimination of said bonuses, and other manipulations by an Administration that actually wants to do something about the problem.
I’m NOT interested in discussion of eliminating the VA in favor of exposing taxpayer funding to even easier manipulation for personal profit by scurrilous self centered politicians when we can make the adjustments to the current VA system that would help our veterans, and tighten up control of the system, thus cutting costs of operations.
I have been treated well at the VA. In the last couple of years they become more accommodating.

My previous VA hospital prescribed morphine. This one won’t give me anything stronger than Lyrica. The other day I tweaked a nurse’s conscience until she let slip that they are “mandated” to get vets off opiates and opiods—whether they need them or not.

I had surgery recently. Gall bladder. They allowed me to wake up in extreme pain with a nurse holding me down. I had to raise holy hell to get pain relief. Then I found out they were planning to send me home with a single gabapentin.
It’s like the freaking Island of Dr. Moreau. Or Mengele.
