The Trump Effect: Psychologists warn that children are watching
Yahoo News ^ | Nov. 12, 2016 | Susanna Heller

As Americans adjust to the reality of Donald Trump’s election victory, their reactions and behavior are being closely watched and studied — by the children in their lives.

Long before Election Day, experts speculated about the long-term ramifications that the tumultuous and unusually nasty campaign would have on children and adolescents.

“Language and rhetoric, unquestionably, have a really important effect on children,” says Dr. Barbara Greenberg, a clinical psychologist who specializes in adolescents, children, teens and families. “Observational learning — watching what other people do and say — is the most effective kind of learning.” Saturation coverage of this campaign, particularly hours and hours of Trump rallies, certainly offered ample opportunity for observational learning.

On election night, Yahoo News hosted the children of staff members and guests, asking them to color in a map of the United States in real time, as results came in and as Yahoo Global News Anchor Katie Couric led the team coverage of the race. The kids, ranging in age from 4 to 14, used red or blue chalk to color states, depending on the party of the candidate who won each state.

Early in the night, the children relaxed in the studio, listening to popular music and practicing breakdancing moves. They cheered and clamored for the blue chalk when New York and Illinois were called for Clinton at 9 p.m., but groaned when Texas, Kansas, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wyoming were called in favor of Trump.

“You can tell we all pretty much like Hillary Clinton,” one preteen girl said, but there were some Trump enthusiasts. One little girl joked, to a Hillary supporter, that she was afraid of getting cooties from her.

As the night progressed, the tone shifted from cautious optimism to anxiety.

Can anyone understand why I don’t trust people from the psychological field?

These people by their very actions dragged young children incapable of handling this mess, through it anyway. And they did it so they could come to us and complain about Trump.

Why are they dragging very young children to 13 year olds through this if not for that.

To make it clear how out of the target group they should be, adults are having a hard time “getting it”.

This is just plain child abuse.

You don’t bother children this age with critical adult level decision making.

Of course that’s unless you plan on them being patients the rest of their lives?

This is almost certainly to unsettle them, give them troubling dreams and the like. You can tell their parents have been discussing these issues in front of them.

This is child abuse, and the psychologists are more than happy to join in the abuse.

If it's so bad, why are you FORCING your children to watch it?

Run the "I did not have sex with that woman" clip a few times. Then 'splain to them about the knee pads.

Smash the Left!

We should look for every opportunity to refute and ridicule leftists whenever they open their ignorant yaps. They need to be constantly opposed on every level. Never pass up an opportunity to get right up in their smug, ugly faces.

JayZ has had far more damaging influence on the children than Trump. A thug whose filthy example has made millions, what a role model.

People who claim to be adults these days don't care at all about the terrible behavior they engage in while children are watching. I remember my parents, their friends, and relatives were mostly careful when they talked about 'adult' things. Now 'adults' think it's great that anything goes when the kiddies are around.

ExTexasRedhead :" We have, in effect, been committing an act of unthinking, unilateral educational disarmament....”( President Ronald Reagan )

Right there is the greatest statement about the central government coerced educational policy called: " Common Core "
Mediocrity is encouraged, cognitive logic ignored, leading to sub-standard educational goals and development .
Critical thinking is overlooked for the sake of endorsing one's "feelings", rather than using one's brain.
It also explains why there are current demonstrations in the streets
Everybody in the street is looking for a participation trophy, and we have to honor and respect their "feelings". !

These youngsters are permanently scarred by seeing Weiners selfies and Hillary’s naked greed. What kind of example is running a “charity” that raises funds that mostly go straight into Clinton’s pocket. It’s an insult to the rest of us that donate time and money helping others.

Katie Couric led the thing?

And they expect us to believe she wasn't "coaching: the kids by her expressions and tone?

What do psychiatrists say about bearded 230 pound bearded men lawfully going into the women’s bathroom and taking a sh*t in the stall next to our 8-year daughters ??

I would agree and also add:

Many of the ape-sh*t protesters you see in the media are the result of broken families. The old liberal 60’s hippies and leftists who failed to grow up and accept adulthood along with a lack of parental responsibilities and moral values contribute to the problem. Broken families and indifferent parents have spawned many of the “snowflake” children found in our society today. Sometimes, it’s hard to tell who’s in charge, the parents or the children.

As many a teachers will attest when evaluating a student and his parents, the acorn doesn’t fall far from the tree. In fact, many go so far as to speculate “little Johnny” will be on death row before reaches adulthood. That’s knowledge gained from experience.

Parents and families do matter. Don’t believe it? Just look into the background of most of our prison population. Could there be a relationship between the two?

Broken families and government overreach into the family are a bad combination. Parents need to make the family unit stronger for the sake of their children instead of worrying about global climate change and other governmental influences that are beyond the scope of young children.

Sickos are drawn to the profession - they have double the expected suicide rate....what they spout is more dangerous to kids than a bit of crude/coarse language....
