One of Trump's First Decisions After the Election... [WOW!! Ebell in the EPA!!)
Independent Journal Review ^ | Nov. 10, 2016- | Kayla Brandon

Posted on 11/11/2016 4:45:56 PM PST by Mrs. Don-o

Donald Trump's transition team is preparing for the billionaire businessman to take over as commander in chief, they're ruffling a few feathers along the way.

Scientific American reports Trump has selected climate change critic, Myron Ebell, to lead his Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) transition team.

Ebell, who's the director of the Center for Energy and Environment at the conservative Competitive Enterprise Institute, has been described by Newsweek as a fierce opponent of climate change, which the publisher calls “entirely at odds with scientific consensus.”

David Goldston, a policy analyst at the Natural Resources Defense Council Action Fund, explained that Ebell's disbelief in climate change would “utterly destroy” any environmental advances made by the Obama administration:

“The Competitive Enterprise [Ebell's employer] Institute has done everything it can politically and through litigation to block any forward movement on climate and to try to harass anybody who is trying to get forward movement.”

Trump's controversial pick should come to no surprise, given his harsh stance on climate change:

The concept of global warming was created by and for the Chinese in order to make U.S. manufacturing non-competitive. — Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) November 6, 2012

Give me clean, beautiful and healthy air - not the same old climate change (global warming) bullshit! I am tired of hearing this nonsense. — Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) January 29, 2014

The backlash Trump's receiving from the left is expected, but some are taking it a step further by petitioning for Ebell to not lead the EPA transition team.

It reads, in part:

“Donald Trump has chosen a leading climate skeptic to head the EPA transition. Do not let a man who denies science in the name of profit lead the nation in environmental protection.”

The petition needs 100,000 signatures in order to get a response from the White House; it has a mere 1,055 so far.

Other Democrats on social media were just as upset:

Fuck, Trump picks Exxon funded climate denier, Myron Ebell, to head EPA transition https://t.co/UAtF2x1F0a — Naadir Jeewa (@randomvariable) November 9, 2016

Myron Ebell, Trump’s pick to lead the EPA, is a lobbyist for fossil fuel industry. Think the system’s rigged? Ask who’s doing the rigging. — Darcy James Argue (@darcyjamesargue) November 10, 2016

So it begins. Trumps transition man for the EPA is @myronebell who is one of the biggest climate skeptics around. Good job America. — Akash Patel (@ab_patel9) November 9, 2016

Senior politics editor of The Huffington Post, Sam Stein, summed up his thoughts on Trump's controversial pick:

FWIW. we have probably lost the battle against climate change tonight — Sam Stein (@samsteinhp) November 9, 2016

Though Newsweek notes Ebell leading the EPA transition team doesn't mean he will definitely have a job within a Trump EPA, his position is undoubtedly a sign of what's to come.

President Trump,

Get Congress to pass a clarification that Carbon Dioxide, CO2, is a vital PLANT FOOD, and was never intended to be a pollutant covered by the 1963 Clean Air Act.

“The Orcs-in-suits want The Donald’s guts in a Hefty Bag for this, alone. Let’s pray DJT will have the stones to keep doing what needs to be done.”

Fraid the Donald is showing to many cards, too early.

The percentage of Carbon Dioxide in the atmosphere is minute compared to the rest of the components.

Even Argon is higher...0.933%

BTTT. Or at the very least, pass a law that prohibits CO2 exhalation by people who think it’s a pollutant. ;)

the concept of global warming was NOT created by the Chinese, but by the British to end a coal miner strike in the 70s - they wanted higher pay because the climate was said to be cooling. The Gov didn’t have the money so found someone to say it was warming which meant the miners would not have to work so hard. The rest is history. Tell DJT.

As a scientist it scares me when the term “settled science” is tossed about.

True dat. We can talk about the latest science, but thinkers have a way of at least threatening to unsettle what we thought was settled. What we now call dark matter was one such threat. Were we going to lean away from our traditional laws of gravitation or were we going to posit a new kind of substance? Science is about coming up with ever-improving explanations, but never a guarantee that it has a perfect one.

Donald has enough cards to fill a pallet. This is going to be almost amusing, as the rage du jour keeps changing along with the next card and the next and the next... I think this could be just fine, depending on the context that Donald establishes.

I agree. Then propose an anti pollution act which will require refineries, oil wells and coal mines to clean up. Since our processes are as clean as they can get, it forces OPEC, the Chinese and others to clean up their act.

Read somewhere that when Zero asked the Chinese to sign up they told him that if he wanted to ruin manufacturing in the US,fine but they weren’t going to ruin theirs.
