A long list of Senate Democrats who face re-election in 2018 are from states Donald Trump won or nearly won on Election Day. That could mean a politically excruciating next two years for many of them, and for party leaders trying to chart a legislative path as the new age of Trump. The election two years from now had already looked difficult for Senate Democrats, who must defend 25 seats compared to just eight held by Republicans. The Democrats' list includes two independents, Vermont's Bernie Sanders and Maine's Angus King, who align with them. Of those 25 senators, 13 are from states Trump captured or narrowly lost. Among those are Maine, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, which hadn't backed a GOP presidential candidate since the 1980s, leaving both parties trying to discern how much Tuesday may have reordered the lineup of blue, red and swing states.

After 2 years of implementing Trump’s plan, the results will be very clear.
They will all lose.
Democrat Ragnarok :-).
We truly need to prepare ourselves for this, the next phase of our battle. We need a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate, and an overwhelming mandate in the House. Then, and only then, can we expect to put the final nail in the coffin of liberalism. And only then can we start to roll back some of the polluted tidal wash.
I don’t know.. Will those senators lose because they’re Democrats, because they obstructed Trump’s agenda, because their state went ‘red’, because Trump promised term limits or...?
Traditionally, the party that wins the White House gets clobbered in the following midterms. Which party won the White House? Was it Republican or Democrat or an independent?
I’d say reading any tea leaves at this point is just making wild guesses which will likely be wrong.
Honestly, though, if I was a Democrat senator in a ‘now red’ state looking at the next midterms, I’d be absolutely worried and likely planning my ‘retirement.’
I was just wondering about this this morning. The battle must begin now.
I would too if I was a #Never Trumper is a Red State. Really picked the wrong side to be on in that case.
Re-elections tend to focus democrats.
They crave power more than anything.
I did not vote for Kelly Ayotte and I’m delighted she lost. Bad choices have consequences.
However, I will vote for whatever RINO runs against Jeanne Shaheen - possibly even Kelly Ayotte.
We all need to buy stock in maalox. The next 2 years the rats and some repukilans will be consuming trailer loads of it.

I count maybe a dozen potentially vulnerable donkeys. And the GOP ought to put a full-court press on Manchin to get him to change parties - he could be in danger in 2018, and is philosophically closer to the GOP than some squish Republicans.
Three things we can do to the Democratic senators up for reelection in 2018:
1. Flip them — it might be so hopeless running as a Democrat in 2018, that we might get at least a couple in the red states to flip.
2. Pressure them — Scare them into not voting against Trump, reminding them that they risk defeat if they do. This will work well in the swing states where they think they have a chance of winning if they don’t alienate their voters. Along with #1, we might be able to defeat filibusters by doing this.
3. Defeat them — It is not too early to plan for 2018 if we want this revolution to last for more than two years.
.
You’re wrong. I honestly think all but a couple will hold their seats. These Democrats are ingrained in their states like mold on bathroom wall.
Or, they could try and behave a little, and help replace Scalia with someone in his mold... and, replace Ruthy when she goes, with someone in the Scalia mold too.... then, perhaps, voters might consider
Bump
I’m more interested in primarying those GOP who collaborated with the ‘Rats and those who opposed Trump post-convention.
Hmmm...
Just a few thoughts...
Flake, Cruz and Hatch get primaried.
Tester in Montana may go.
Manchin in West Virginia will switch parties to GOP.
McCaskill in Missouri could go.
How many others just retire?
Reps had to defend about 21’ish Senate seats this time and kept the Senate with Trump.
Oh the DUmbs are going to be tatooed in 2018. LoL. :)
Not really. Do it the way Harry Reid and the Democrats did. Change the rules!
