The White House refused to rule out Wednesday whether President Obama might grant a pardon to Hillary Clinton to spare her from President-elect Donald Trump prosecuting her after he takes office.

White House press secretary Josh Earnest said Mr. Obama is hopeful that Mr. Trump will follow long-standing tradition of not punishing political opponents through the criminal-justice system. He said all clemency actions go through a formal process...

-—”You have to not be part of the crime to give a pardon.”

Even if you are the President?

If they were alive you could ask Gerald Ford or Richard Nixon about blanket pardons.

Obama can pardon her for the unsecured emails, etc, but they will be all exposed when the quid pro quos in the foundation are unraveled and prosecuted. Under RIco, they could forfeit assets.

The “unsecured” emails jeopardized our national security. Serious offense. Must be prosecuted, just as other violations of national security are.

He can grant a blanket pardon, but the Clinton foundation can still be investigated and the foundation’s assets can be frozen if irregularities are found.

I can see where they might be able to snow the LIV’s that it was “just all a bunch of arcane financial laws that you wouldn’t understand” and we did this to prevent the country from getting a partisan torn up about it.

All of the satanic and pedophile revelations would be another matter that even the LIV’s could understand.

Yes, unless they shut down the foundation immediately. He can’t pardon them for future crimes only past crimes. If they don’t shut it down they will overextend the pardon and Giuliani can still get them.

A pardon could be worse for Hillary...any ensuing investigation of the Clinton Foundation and the Clinton Global Initiative would likely result in Hillary being forced to testify....if she can’t be prosecuted, she could not incriminate herself by her testimony....anyone and everyone involved in the shenanigans could be in serious legal jeopardy, which would include her husband and her daughter...

Obama might give her a pardon, but he won't do it for free.

She'll have to find some way to launder some cash when all her donor sources are drying up.

I have no doubt that Obama will be a pardon machine come January. Just remember, though, the complete truth will eventually come out, and these pardons will become a part of HIS legacy.

He wouldn’t be “punishing political opponents.” He would be rectifying a gross miscarriage of justice.

Nixon was charged. He resigned before they were able to go through the process.

Nixon charged with first of three articles of impeachment

But, but, but, why would she need a pardon if (as they say) she hasn’t done anything wrong? /s. So predictable.

Very interesting point. To rephrase: is he disqualified from the exercise of the pardon power due to a conflict of interest, the interest being criminal liability for his own participation in the crime?

Can;t pardon her if she has not been found guilty . Saying that I want an investigation into her, Comey, obama, IRS etc.

IOf course obama thinks she should not be charged or investigated as he is implicated in this criminal behaviour.
