Sabato on Fox and Friends - the entire punditry and polling industry failed.
And not just a regular omelette, an omelette prepared by Spirit Cooking.
It was intentional, and they know it.
Were it my call I would outright BAN polling by the media during elections except to poll issues. No polling about candidate preference due to the ease in which these polls can be manipulated to influence voter turnout. Ditto exit polls should be banned since they serve no useful purpose at all.
Only the campaigns themselves should be able to poll the population re candidate preference and even then for their own internal uses only.
Those who can - do.
Those who can't - teach.

Media polling was a deliberate attempt to depress and change public opinion. It was totally coordinated among the various TV and print media.

They didn’t fail. They did what they planned to do. And saying afterwards, “Oops, we blew it” was part of the plan.
I don’t know who he is, but at least he had enough of a shred of honesty to admit he was very wrong.
He didn't admit anything. He and all the rest of them are still lying. They didn't "get it wrong". That implies an honest attempt to get it right. Instead, they intentionally lied to us in an attempt to manipulate the vote. They lied then and they lie now! They're worse than worthless!
The data never confirmed their polls. Their loss. Hopefully financial.

Thank you again for your mail drops. It was refreshing to get a clear perspective of what was happening.
He got it wrong, but the thing about Silver is that he was getting screamed at by liberals for suggesting he had a 35% chance and saying that he could not trust some of the polling data.
And they’re trying to prepare the ground to do the exact same thing the next election. All they want to “learn from this” is how to get better-more undetectable-at it.
There is only one democratic pollster to trust after this election..... Pat Caddell.... He called it. He said late last week that it was breaking towards Trump and that he would win.
This is worth repeating. Nobody, and I mean nobody, in the polling and punditry class looks more brilliant today than Pat Caddell. In fact, if all the talking heads want to understand what just happened they should read his piece from a couple of days ago.
