The Comey-Lynch confrontation unfolded on Thursday, some time after Comey was fully briefed on the existence of the trove of emails uncovered by agents investigating Anthony Weiner's sexting of a 15-year-old girl.
Lynch made it known that she thought his decision violated department policy, a source familiar with the matter told Reuters on Monday.
As Comey and Lynch aides debated last Thursday whether alerting Congress about the emails would comply with longstanding Justice Department policy against announcing overt investigative steps that would influence an upcoming election, Comey asked whether he was being explicitly directed not to do so. Lynch never gave Comey the order not to send the emails, a senior government official said.
Comey's letter on Friday notifying members of Congress that the Federal Bureau of Investigation had discovered new emails apparently pertinent to the Clinton server probe has upended the presidential race and given new hope to Republican candidate Donald Trump that he can make a comeback and win on November 8.
Lynch's office informed the FBI on Thursday that sending the letter conflicted with a memo containing official guidance that is sent to all Justice Department employees during presidential election years, according to the official.
The memo instructs employees to 'never select the timing of investigative steps... for the purpose of affecting any election.'
But the Justice Department made no effort to block the FBI from obtaining a search warrant to review the emails, which the agency received on Sunday.

And that vote was after it was publicly known that Hillary used her own server for her Department of State work. They never asked Lynch about it during her hearings or tried to get an undertaking from her to recuse herself from any Clinton matters given her appointment as US Attorney by Bill Clinton.

I read that article too. I assume the money for an election that was already over was to pay campaign bills or for another run. Still a large contribution like that after the election is over feels wrong.
Another point. The article you mentioned was the only defense of McCabe i’ve seen. I can’t imagine the wife of a high ranking FBI official running a campaign from the left which begs the question why would that scoundrel send cash her way?

President Trump should create a cabinet level agency called something like "Department of Public Integrity" with a mandate to investigate corruption at all levels of government. It should also be responsible for ensuring free, fair, and impartial elections.
This agency should have full police powers that trump those of other agencies within the scope of its mandate. That mandate should be very limited but even the President should not have the power to interfere with its investigations.
They can blame pepe the frog for all I care. So long as DJT wins.

When the Clinton’s are involved, nothing is left to chance, its all fixed and modulated for media narrative, distraction from other things (in this case WikiLeaks).

Lynch recused herself. Any involvement she has in the case after that is unethical.
Any wiff of a scent of corruption should be considered grounds to ask for a full investigation and then if found true prosecuted to the full extent of the law with the maximum sentence and no parole.

It’s good to know that Rudy Giulianni is on Trump’s team, and Rudy is tight with the various offices of NYPD and FBI NYC Office. No matter what the DC FBI scum do, Rudy and the NYPD surely have back-up copies for Trump’s DOJ.
