3 competing theories on why the FBI re-opened the Hillary email server investigation

There is no question that re-opening the FBI Investigation into Hillary Clinton’s email server is a big deal. The FBI normally avoids acting just before an election in order to avoid charges of political manipulation. NBC reports:

The FBI is reviewing a new batch of Hillary Clinton emails, bureau director James Comey said in a letter to the Senate Judiciary Committee on Friday.

"In connection with an unrelated case, the FBI has learned of the existence of emails that appear to be pertinent to the investigation … I agreed that the FBI should take appropriate investigative steps designed to allow investigators to review these emails to determine whether they contain classified information, as well as to assess their importance to our investigation," he wrote.

The very first thing to note is that Comey made no mention of a grand jury. The emails whose existence he learned of may have been the result of a subpoena in another investigation. If that is the case, further subpoenas are quite possible, a tool that was left unused in the investigation to date.

There are 3 competing theories as to why he might be doing this now that come to mind.

He might be seeking to restore his badly damaged reputation, recognizing that the damage he has inflicted on the FBI is substantial. Three days ago, American Thinker published an open letter from a retired FBI Agent, Hugh

Will the media run to Democrat senators and ask them if they are still voting for Hillary? My guess is no

Someone had the goods on the FBI itself.

Could be Weiner had Huma’s email userid/password and looked at her email to keep track of whether she knew of his behavior.

Perhaps it is just Comey negotiating for a better deal from Clinton...

Looks like Comey really has to bite the bullet now.

My bet is The Prince of Darkness got Comey by the short hairs.

I also think Comey had to do something to head off WikiLeaks direct connections to 0bama.

But, another possibility: one or more FBI whistleblowers are talking to Congress already, and it was about to explode.

Better yet ... one or more FBI whistleblowers turned a pile of information over to Congress, and told Congress that the other 95% of the information was going to be broadcast all over the internet next week.

"Happy Halloween, Congressman ... ain't this some scary sh!t?"

Could it be that the FBI sense Hillary is going to lose.

Comey has concluded Trump will win, and his will be the first name taken and ass kicked.

It would be hard to do Comey in, since he has a 10 year appointment as FBI Director starting in 2013. -Tom

Look like really investigating so can say nothing there end of next week

Not gonna happen.

That only works when the government has control of all the evidence. With all of the damaging information that has come out from sources like Wikileaks, they have to operate under the assumption that EVERY PIECE OF EVIDENCE will make its way into the public domain -- probably within the next 10 days.

Slightly less attention than if Comey admits there are damning e-mails out there BEFORE Assange leaks them.

ditto, #2 makes no sense to me either.

a variant of #3 is that Comey felt a danger that he would be thrown under a bus if Hillary were to be elected, since now he knows where the bodies are buried on the email investigation, and as such, represents a tangible threat to a Hillary presidency... so long as he remains alive, that is...

The election is over now. This is about Hillary being thrown under the bus to minimize damage to the globalists, protect some Democrat powerbrokers, and keep their presidential chances alive for 2020.

^THIS^ They know the polls have over-sampled, she has no shot at winning, even with limited election fraud. They are cutting their losses, assuaging angry Americans, and betting we will go back to sleep, knowing that culturally we will eventually be the minority because they own the universities and the media.

Maybe Soros had a 'short' on the Peso and needed bailing out?

Chart shows Peso per Dollar, so up is down for the Peso (if that makes sense):

He can’t head off the e mail connection to Obama.

At the very best, the Comey gambit is to hide the effect in the noise about the hillary candidacy ending

Obama is likely toast in the long run but by that time the electors can vote and Trump can get a judge to swear him in before Christmas

The most plausible in my book:

Comey writing a letter to Congress about reopening the Clinton case is a ringing endorsement of the power of we, the people.

The nation was stunned at the Comey decision not to indict. Americans everywhere expressed disappointment in the FBI. Normal L/E steps to investigate the matter were woefully inadequate....even non-existent.

Congress musta been swamped w/ complaints.

Reopening the case is a good start.

Comey knows everybody is listening.

Maybe he just realized that there will be no pardons at his level. Obama needs to preserve some of his legacy. I think this may open the door for more underlings to start singing.

I know I am being optimistic, so don’t rain on my parade.

My best guess is that #2 or something similar is most likely. “We can’t comment on an ongoing investigation.” This is being done to keep information from the voters. We have criminals investigating other criminals.

My second most likely guess is that Comey is trying to save his own butt. He can see that Trump will win and he is working hard to get himself off the hook. He will point to the new investigation as evidence of nonpartisanship. My answer: Too late, Comey. We know what you are and where your loyalty is. You’re a criminal co-conspirator and your loyalty is to Clinton, 0vomit, liberals, progressives, and the democrat party. And to lining your own pockets with the payoffs you get for supporting them.
