A rise in shootings on college campuses has added a new front in the gun debate, centering on this question: does it hurt, or help, to have more armed people at school?

But many believe that having more firearms around makes gun crime more likely. They oppose the campus-carry campaign as an extension of broader efforts to allow people to carry concealed weapons in other public areas, which they say raises the risk of violence.
Those gun-control advocates are now being backed by researchers at Johns Hopkins University, who just released a study that argues the campus-carry movement is based on flawed assumptions about the relationship between civilian gun use, violent crime and mass shootings, including several killings on college campuses.

But here's the best part:
Gun activists march close to The University of Texas campus on Dec. 12, 2015 in Austin, Texas.
Yeah...It’s much safer to throw a book or pencil at a mass murderer....
A study created and designed to reach that conclusion, no doubt.
The individual carrying the gun is safer.
This is thinly disguised agitprop paid for by Bloomberg. It is not a “study”.
Note the stupid assumption in the results.
It says guns on campus do not make campus safer.
That is not the criteria the U.S. uses to make decisions about personal liberty.
That assumes that everything that is not allowed is forbidden.
In the United States, the assumption is everything that is not forbidden is allowed.
It is up to the proponents of gun bans to prove that gun bans are Constitutional *and* significantly improve safety.
They cannot do so because gun bans do not do so.
More NBC BS.
That's true. That's why police don't carry guns.
JHU is in Bawlmer, Peoples’ Republic of Maryland. Questions?
Sure....when confronted by a mass shooter on campus, be sure to throw your book at them. Then immediately claim the area you’re in as a safe space. That will stop them every time.
The fact is that people with CC permits are extremely unlikely to commit a crime and may eve deter crime, so what could it hurt?
What is with the magazine on that rifle?
A study from nbc??? LOL! Oh man, that’s funny. Tell us another one.
....because an open carry sex toy will do the job instead. /s
John Hopkins, huh?
Wonder what his handle on Huff Post, Daily Kos and DUmmies is?
In other words, a bullshit study.
You know, at the end of the day, the purpose of the 2nd Amendment is not to necessarily make CAMPUSES safer. So-called “campus carry” is so that my daughter and wife can protect THEMSELVES as individual citizens while going to school.
If their carrying makes others safer, that’s an additional benefit. If their carrying doesn’t make other individuals safer, it is irrelevant.
“What is with the magazine on that rifle?”
It looks like it’s in backwards.
That gun would not be as scary (and therefore much less dangerous) if the owner would just slap a coat of a soothing color of paint on it. A pale green or chartreuse, maybe?
I remember a cartoon of a polish pistol something like that.
There is no study that can accurately be done right now because there is no comparative data yet. So of course it is BS and it had to be conceived and designed to support the predetermined result that they came out with.
