Concentration of CO2 in atmosphere hits new high: UN (El Nino, Bovines, Deplorables to blame)

Geneva (AFP) - The concentration of carbon dioxide (CO2) in the atmosphere has passed an ominous milestone, ushering the planet into "a new era" of climate change, the UN said Monday.

For the first time on record, the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere averaged 400 parts per million (ppm) in 2015, the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) said in its latest Greenhouse Gas Bulletin.

CO2, the main greenhouse gas driving climate change, has previously passed the 400 ppm threshold on certain months in specific locations but never on a globally averaged basis, WMO said.

The UN agency also reported that CO2 concentration rates had "surged again to new records in 2016" and predicted the annual average would "not dip below (400 ppm) for many generations."

WMO chief Petteri Taalas said "the year 2015 ushered in a new era of optimism and climate action with the Paris climate change agreement.

"But it will also make history as marking a new era of climate change reality with record high greenhouse gas concentrations," he added in a statement.

The CO2 concentration rate for 2014 was 397.2 ppm, just short of the 400 ppm mark that some climate activists once deemed unthinkable.

- El Nino factor -

CO2 concentration rates have spiked in part because of a strong El Nino, the whether phenomenon that occurs every four to five years with a broadly warming effect.

El Nino "triggered droughts in tropical regions and reduced the capacity of 'sinks' like forests, vegetation and the oceans to absorb CO2," WMO said.

The more CO2, the greener the planet will get, according to the science we learned in elementary school. CO2 feeds oxygen production, and we should see oxygen levels spiking too.

I have done the same. On one occasion, a die-hard lefty had no clue. When I told her the correct amount, she suddenly had nothing to say.

OK!! Everybody pay attention!

Lesson for today:

1. The sun is 1,300,000 times as big as the earth.

2. The sun is a giant nuclear furnace that controls the climates of all its planets.

3. The earth is one of the sun’s planets.

4. The earth is a speck in comparison to the size of the sun.

5. Inhabitants of the earth are less than specks.

Study Question: How do less-than-specks in congress plan to control the sun?

This would explain this years record crop yeilds. Better store it up for the coming ice age.

Yup, 400 parts per million = 0.04% or 4/100 of 1%

Four hundreths of ONE Friggin percent.

Bunch of morons!

Well, we won’t see it. The adaption of the eco-system will take thousands of years, but you are right. The plants will adapt and grow larger and faster. The pesky weed in the crack of the driveway will get REALLY aggressive for your great-great grandchildren!!

But, the earth was made by God and has survived massive eruptions of volcanoes. It can handle our exhaust gases and farts. The perfection of the Earth and Moon are the greatest piece of general revelation that there is! Too bad Progressives and Naturalists cannot see.

Why is it always bovines? Other ruminants should be equally as harmful.

Thankfully the only thing that means is that farming and gardening should improve a bit.

No smoking hot spot David Evans - THE AUSTRALIAN July 18, 2008

1. The greenhouse signature is missing. We have been looking and measuring for years, and cannot find it.

Each possible cause of global warming has a different pattern of where in the planet the warming occurs first and the most. The signature of an increased greenhouse effect is a hot spot about 10km up in the atmosphere over the tropics. We have been measuring the atmosphere for decades using radiosondes: weather balloons with thermometers that radio back the temperature as the balloon ascends through the atmosphere. They show no hot spot. Whatsoever.

If there is no hot spot then an increased greenhouse effect is not the cause of global warming. So we know for sure that carbon emissions are not a significant cause of the global warming. If we had found the greenhouse signature then I would be an alarmist again.

How much C02 did Hillary’s campaign bus contribute to Georgia’s air quality?

Here's the CO2 chart at the Mauna Loa observatory. Notice anything odd about the last 6 months or so? Like the trend seeming to level off?

Tax the Screen Actors Guild members that use private aviation. Every take off clearance could activate the necessary contribution towards combatting climate change. Fair share. Lol.

CO2 = plant food.
More plant food = more plants.
More plants = more oxygen.
More oxygen = easier breathing.
Easier breathing = more relaxed, longer lives.

OMG, we’ll run out of room!

Oh Noes...4 molecules of CO2 for every 10,000 air molecules. I remember back in the good old days when there was closer to 3 molecules of CO2 for every 10,000...things were so much better then. There were no hurricanes, or tornadoes, it was 70 degrees everywhere all the time.

By contrast Venus, the planet they cite as an example of what “could” happen to the Erf, has an atmospheric CO2 of 97%!!!!

Big deal. It’s a nice round number popular with crooked politicians, crooked journalists, but not scientists.

The percentage of CO2 is still very low compared to the other atmospheric gases.
