As a small child I went through a period of telling a lot of lies. One day it started making me sick to my stomach, so I stopped.
My first husband lied all of the time, and I am quite sure that he felt no misgivings or guilt about doing so.
A study was needed for this common sense? Isn’t this what good parents have been telling their kids for thousands of years?
I’m not sure “desensitize” is the right word. Since the vast majority of small lies have little consequence to the liar, there’s little incentive to tell truth over lies. The liar then expands until the lies have consequence, and then stops at that level.
People with a mental disease, such as Hellary, have no internal boundaries to limit lies due to social pressure. They lie even when the truth would be more acceptable.
I never lie, but sometimes my limbic system is hacked by the Russians.

My 18 year old step son is a pathological liar. Will lie about anything no matter how small or unimportant. I had tp put security cameras around my house because he was so bad and when we would review the tapes and find out what he was actually doing, he would continue to lie. I would sit there with my hand on the start button of the recording and beg him to tell me the truth and he refused to do so. Then i would play back the tape and show him and he would have no reaction whatsoever.
Sounds like a lawyer I am battling with ,, if I said water was wet he wouldn’t agree or argue he doesn’t understand my question... I am filing an ethics complaint on him. I believe this study and would argue it explains why so many lawyers divorce.
This explains illary’s pencant for lying even wen the trut is preferable. Liars lie. That is what they do.
A relative lies about the sun coming up in the morning. Doesn’t matter if the truth is easier, it’s lie after lie after lie. I don’t play that game and call her on it but then she cries I’m a meanie. She told the family to blank off a year ago. Honestly, despite the heartache, it’s been a relief not having to deal with her.
