29 Stupid Things White People Do and What We Can Do Instead (get the barf bucket ready)
Baltimore Racial Justice Action ^

Posted on 10/22/2016 10:28:25 PM PDT by aquila48

1. Call a Black person “articulate.”

Instead: Because of a long history of oppression, degradation, and dismissal of the talent and skills of Black people, understand that such a statement coming from a white person is often construed, and meant, as meaning “articulate-ness” is something unusual in a Black person.

2. Say “one of my best friends is [black, Latino, person of color, etc.].”

Instead: Ask yourself first: Do you know where that person shops for groceries? Where they go to church? Where they get their hair cut? What their children’s/granchildren’s names are? Have you ever been to their home? These are the things you know about a best friend.

3. Say that the success of [Oprah, Bill Cosby, Michael Jordan, etc.] show that there’s no longer any racism.

Instead: Ask yourself about Madame CJ Walker. She was a millionaire, the first black millionaire, in the early part of the 20th century. Lynchings were still going on. No one would say things were equal then, but she was a famous millionaire. The real question is how many more people like Oprah etc would there be if there were equality?

4. Say that if anyone works hard they will get ahead.

Instead: Understand and accept that this is one of the operative myths of our culture: the meritocracy. Any comparative statistic of all the socio-economic indicators shows that structural inequality is the reality. A lot of people who are working hard are not getting ahead.

5. Say that it doesn’t matter what color Jesus was, it matters what Jesus did, while insisting that pictures of him must be white.

Instead: Consider that if it really didn’t matter to you, we could make him Black.

Are you under 30 or 40?

If you are old enough to remember the 50’s, you should remember when it was often said by well-meaning white people, until it came to be seen as gauche, precisely because it implied that most black people are inarticulate.

It’s not about whether most black people ARE inarticulate, or whether Condi Rice and Clarence Thomas ARE articulate.

Things black people do.

1. Talk constantly and loudly on their cell phones.
2. Talk loudly in restaurants.
3. Wear pants below their underwear.
4. Use ebt cards when they are capable of working.
5. Riot anytime a criminal gets what’s coming to him.
6. Loot stores of other black people.
7. Refuse to use proper English.
8. Commit a disproportionate amount of violent crime.
9. Feel entitled to everything you have.
10. Don’t understand why people don’t like them.

Anyone care to add?

I have no idea where most of my close friends shop for groceries or get their hair cut. Friends I’ve had for decades. That includes my best friend. We have far more important things to discuss than groceries and hair cuts. (Except for my brother and one cousin, whose wives cut their hair at home, I can’t tell you where anyone I know gets their hair cut.)

What a lame list. What a lame bunch of people who put together such a list.

Every society has pathways to success and to failure. Many blacks and their white enablers have decided that an obvious path to failure is “black culture” and cannot be criticized or changed. When adopting black culture results in the completely expected and predictable failure, whites see it as being due to rejecting education, non-violence, self control, traditional morality and values, while embracing crime and laziness. Blacks see it as the result of racism, intolerance and white oppression.

"... it was common to hear well-meaning white people call some particular black person 'articulate.'"

Complimenting People of Color (PoC) who are arti...er...well-spoke...er...good talkers can be dicey. Fortunately, Harry Reid - an enlightened liberal and certified "Friend of People of Color" - has provided us with an actual example that we can use to guide us, should we ever wish to compliment a PoC for their speechifying abilities.

Of course, each situation will be unique, but this illustration can provide you with a valuable guidepost, if you ever need it: Simply say something like "Say there, my fine fellow, you appear to have the ability to "speak with no negro dialect," unless you want one." Using that magical phrase will let the PoC know that a.) you're a Friend, and b.) you recognize the PoC's bilingual capabilities. With this simple act you will have placed the first timber to the Bridge of Trust that will cross the Great Racial Divide and lead to a brighter tomorrow.*

*Full disclosure: I haven't actually tried this, but I'm pretty sure it just might work.

Unlike their “minority” friends, whites just can’t unite politically except in a few states, including surprisingly, MS.

We are witnessing a sharp drop in employment prospects for white men too. Many may not have figured it all out.

1. Call a Black person “articulate.”

Instead: Because of a long history of oppression, degradation, and dismissal of the talent and skills of Black people, understand that such a statement coming from a white person is often construed, and meant, as meaning “articulate-ness” is something unusual in a Black person.

This is a naked attempt to restrict language use by whites - to control non-black behavior. I (a white man) am always proud to be told I am articulate - it is something I work on constantly.

Do not defend yourself from some spurious assertion! The "one of my..." retort is generally a response to someone calling you racist, in my experience. But unless you conform to their definition of "a best friend", don't bother.

No, the real question is whether there is a threshold number of black millionaires that would satisfy the writers of this drivel.

And a lot of people that work hard at a job where they don't get ahead learn to use that job as a stepping stone to the next job, where they do start to get ahead. They want to make believing in the American dream racist.

5. Say that it doesn’t matter what color Jesus was, it matters what Jesus did, while insisting that pictures of him must be white.

Instead: Consider that if it really didn’t matter to you, we could make him Black.

And if it really didn't matter to the author, the white images would be non-offensive.

This is about controlling guilty whites, not about how to improve relations betweens whites and blacks.

Too many American blacks, but fewer than there used to be, do want whites to be perceived as racist, want whites to feel ashamed about their race, in order to gain the moral upper hand and the riches that go with it.

It is a sign of privilege to redefine insults so they don’t include you.
For blacks to be able to add “power” to the definition of racism so that a group of blacks targeting a white man for his skin color and beating him while screaming racial insults without facing criminal penalties is a sign of privilege, all while saying that the white man is oppressing them by his very presence or if he talks without deferring to his theoretical inferiors.
Someone called this radical egalitarianism, like China’s Great Leap Forward, but in reality, it is using the name of fairness to move past egalitarianism to inverting the social pyramid of the 1950s.

Sad how while they post criticisms, they post little in the way of solutions. Lots of talk about institutionalized racism, but little on what to do about it. I am guessing their “solutions” wouldn’t be too popular.

Another dumb thing whites do is continue to capitalize allow the the capitalization of the world “black”. This was started by black SJWs as stealth racism.

Call it out everytime you see it. Ask why “white” is not capitalized.

Also stop encouraging the hypenization of Americans.
