Colorado prosecutor: Marijuana-related murders are skyrocketing
American Thinker ^ | June 1, 2016 | Sierra Rayne

According to the latest reports coming out of Colorado, marijuana is a major cause of homicides in the state, and the problem is only getting worse.

"There is increased crime, sometimes violent crime, associated with legalization of marijuana," Brauchler said. "That's not what you'd expect. You'd expect the harder-core drugs." ... "If cash is the only way to acquire marijuana, crime follows cash," Brauchler said ... Brauchler believes the legalization of marijuana is partly to blame for the rise in crime. "It is easier for there to be black market in a legalized system than there was before," he said.

This all wasn't supposed to happen. The pot legalization advocates told us that legalized marijuana would reduce crime and effectively eliminate the black market. Now we have experienced and respected prosecutors saying they are seeing, firsthand, the exact opposite.

Josh Gordon has left millions of dollars on the table because he couldn't find away to stay away from his pot. But he's not addicted, no siree.

With this great insight we can aim the law at gambling, drinking and prostitution.

Hey, let's not do that. I like gambling, drinking and ... uh, other stuff.

Why should I be silent about the medicinal benefits of cannabis? Why should I be silent about others who experience a higher quality of life from using cannabis as medicine? Should PTSD patients remain silent when cannabis successfully treats their symptoms?

Because that's all druggie bullshit.

Your faith in the "rational man" theory regarding addictions is touching but profoundly naive.

“Sure, but why would you want to tell everyone that you’re proud to be a druggie?”

I am no more “proud” to use cannabis as medicine as I was when I was prescribed & used anti-depressants & anti-anxeity meds. I am THANKFUL to have discovered cannabis when used medicinally improves my quality of life.

“It’s like saying you’re proud to be queer, or proud to be unemployed, or proud to have been trepanned by a shaman.”

Again, you present a non-sequitur. I am a thankful Catholic convert. 5+ days a week I work with DAW (digital audio workstation) software in a small recording studio in addition to being a professional musician & songwriter. In 2 months my wife & I will celebrate 19 years of marriage. God blesses us daily & I offer my thanks to Him daily for giving this plant to us to use as medicine. I’m equally as thankful for the opportunity to share these things with you & others. Peace :)

“Because that’s all druggie bullshit.”

So those kids who no longer suffer from seizures after taking cannabis oil is “bullshit”? Is it “bullshit” that people with arthritis get pain relief from cannabis? is it “bullshit” that folks with cancer use cannabis to keep their appetite while going through chemo? Is it “bullshit” when a veteran with PTSD can sleep again & not be a suicide risk because cannabis treats their symptoms successfully?

“It is easier for there to be black market in a legalized system than there was before,”

Through the grapevine, I have heard a great number of Colorado potheads continue to buy from their regular dealer than the stores simply because it’s cheaper and better. The idea was to provide a product that would be superior in quality, safer, and at a competitive price, but government gets greedy and can’t understand why people try to thwart it.

Don’t waste your time talking with Nazis.

Any genuine conservative would react to this article by seeking to verify the basis of the claims made... because these are claims made by government, which no true conservative would ever trust.

So it turns out of the 10-of-15 murders allegedly connected to MJ legalization, only one example is given, and that’s an example of street crime associated with prohibition, not with legalization.

This is just the usual Drug-warriors-want-your-money-and-will-lie-to-get-it routine that we’ve seen for decades.

I know you can’t convince the die-hard prohibitionists of anything. Still they present an opportunity to show the falsehoods built into their disordered proclamations. In many ways they are like progressive SJWs & need to be confronted with reality whenever the opportunity to do so arises.

Well, I had six classmates die from heroin ODs before we were 2 years out of high school, my step sister has been using heroin off and on for decades, my best friend was killed in a car accident while ha and another friend were high on heroin. Through the years I have encountered more than a few heroin addicts professionally. At an early stage of my life I pretty routinely went to “ parties” where folks were injecting heroin in the bathroom and snorting coke in the kitchen.

I would not characterize my knowledge of addiction as naive. I would point out that ALL THAT HAPPENED WHILE DRUGS WERE ILLEGAL. So making and keeping drugs illegal is not the answer. It just creates more problems as typical libtard policies do.

I went to college in Boulder. More than 25 years ago. There was a 24/7 parade of distributors of recreational pharmaceuticals on The Hill. The police tried to arrest one once and the rest turned the police car over and burned it. The Boulder described, the Boulder I remember, and the Boulder where “nothing has changed” could, actually, all be the same place.

I use cannabis daily as medicine & I am so thankful to God in Heaven for giving us this wonderful plant.

If God in Heaven told you to stop placing one of His creations - the pot leaf - above Him, you would tell God to go to hell.

Be honest with yourself and your idolatry.
