Colorado prosecutor: Marijuana-related murders are skyrocketing
American Thinker ^ | June 1, 2016 | Sierra Rayne

Posted on 10/21/2016 11:49:18 PM PDT by Ethan Clive Osgoode

According to the latest reports coming out of Colorado, marijuana is a major cause of homicides in the state, and the problem is only getting worse.

"There is increased crime, sometimes violent crime, associated with legalization of marijuana," Brauchler said. "That's not what you'd expect. You'd expect the harder-core drugs." ... "If cash is the only way to acquire marijuana, crime follows cash," Brauchler said ... Brauchler believes the legalization of marijuana is partly to blame for the rise in crime. "It is easier for there to be black market in a legalized system than there was before," he said.

This all wasn't supposed to happen. The pot legalization advocates told us that legalized marijuana would reduce crime and effectively eliminate the black market. Now we have experienced and respected prosecutors saying they are seeing, firsthand, the exact opposite.

POT VICTIMLESS CRIME

But, but, marijuana is a victimless drug.

Except for the fact that Colorado motels all stink of the sh*t now. You cannot use Colorado motels anymore because your job has a random drug test. That odor gets grown, stored in your hair for months.

Use a stinky Colorado motel, and risk getting fired and a bad employment record.

Here is another interesting side effect to legal pot in CO. I worked for a national distribution company with a warehouse near Denver. We need truck drivers and fork lift operators. We drug test employees nationally in accordance with Corporate Policy.

We cannot find enough employees in CO who can pass the drug test. Warehouse work is hard and turnover is high and we would always be under staffed as the pool of possible employees becomes much smaller in CO with legal pot than in other parts of the country.

“Why do you need to encourage others to use it?”

I’ve never encouraged anyone to use it because it’s not for everyone just as some medicines that work for person A don’t work for person B.

“Why don’t you just smoke it and shut up about it?”

I don’t smoke cannabis. I vaporize it & inhale the vapor. We also make homemade edibles which I prerfer. Why should I “shut up about it” while you are lying about cannabis like prohibitionists have been doing for decades? You spread delusional falsehoods & propoganda while I share my own experience as someone who uses cannabis as medicine. I’ll never tell you to “shut up” even though you spread falsehoods. Hope you have a wonderful weekend. :)

Yeah, but auto parts don't cause brain damage or turn people into paranoid lunatics.

You've obviously not had to replace all the brake lines on an '02 Dakota that drives thru PA's salt-encrusted winters .. lol/groan

Because you like the queers who can't shut up about their deviancies. Ok so you like to eat drug muffins and crap. Why do we need to hear about it? You could at least have some respect for normal society by just smoking your sh*t in the basement and keep a low profile. But no, like queers and other freaks, you want to be considered the new normal.

But they said legalization would take away the profit motive and chase away the criminal element.

IN many ways it does. The federal demand that MJ sales must be cash, no credit cards, no checking accounts allowed for merchants, etc., has led to the crime wave, not the MJ sales.

“Because you like the queers who can’t shut up about their deviancies.”

Actually, I am politely confronting you about the falsehoods & propaganda you try to pass off as fact. Your only response is to respond with personal attacks & non-sequiturs like the one above.

“Ok so you like to eat drug muffins and crap. Why do we need to hear about it? You could at least have some respect for normal society by just smoking your sh*t in the basement and keep a low profile. But no, like queers and other freaks, you want to be considered the new normal.”

Why do we need to read the prohibitionist falsehoods you post? You could at least have some respect for society who no longer agrees with you on the issue of cannabis & work to change minds to your prohibitionist view through intelligent means. Instead, you engage in personal attacks (which I have reported), name calling & you tell people to “shut up” while throwing out non-sequiturs like Halloween candy because they dare to intelligently confront you.

For instance, what does homosexuality have to do with cannabis? The answer is nothing. Again, I hope you have a wonderful weekend.

ORGAN DAMAGE

So true. The biggest side effect of strong drugs like cocaine, alcohol, amphetamines, probably marajuana, over eating, all the pleasure drugs is organ damage.

If you do not mind causing yourself early, painful, terminating ORGAN DAMAGE,
then you have bigger problems than drugs.

Who wants to hang around drug users and dealing with their burden of painful, early organ damage??

There is a reason healthy people will avoid you druggies. You do not stink, you just have little future.

Not to mention the feminizing effect it has on male users, the schizophrenia risk, the bringing out of underlying mental conditions, the paranoia when not using, and the interesting interactions of driving where there are many potheads.

It has a lot to do with it. If you want to have gay sex, go do what you want in the privacy of your own back alley or dumpster but shut up about it. Same with drugs. The very least you could do is shut up about it. Why don't you do your drugs in the privacy of your own home and just shut up about it? What you are doing is still wrong, but at least you should have the decency to hide your face from society. As it should be.

My hometown of De Beque Colorado (pop. 500) has a new school thanks in large part to voting to allow dispensaries. Two shops have opened but there is also a large (non-THC) marijuana growing industry in the area. It pretty much kept the school open.

My wife & I will pray for you. I promise.

“Why don’t you do your drugs in the privacy of your own home and just shut up about it?”

Because I live in America & enjoy, exercise & encourage everyone to engage in free speech, even if they voice an opinion I disagree with.

“What you are doing is still wrong, but at least you should have the decency to hide your face from society”

I’m not hiding anything. I openly share my experience of having a much better quality of life since I began using cannabis as medicine. I am but one of millions who are no longer forced to hide in the shadows created by prohibitionist falsehood. I know my situation is not unique. Some veterans suffering from PTSD are using cannabis successfully to treat their symptoms because pharmaceuticals haven’t worked. Some use cannabis to treat their arthritis symptoms vs taking opiates for pain. I have a family member who uses cannabis to successfully treat her Crohn’s Disease. Rather than be happy that folks like me & others have had their quality of life greatly improved because of using cannabis as medicine you bash & ridicule.

I no longer have to “hide” from folks who share your perspective.

Thanks for sharing this. Sister in law told us schools in her area have more cash to spend on school books since cannabis became legal. In legal states hemp is again being grown in large quantities. The fiscal boom potential for hemp products is huge. There is no downside to legalization, IMO.

You just exposed the reason for the increase of the crime.

The dope costs a lot of money. That in itself is the main reason for the crime.

Sure, but why would you want to tell everyone that you're proud to be a druggie? It's like saying you're proud to be queer, or proud to be unemployed, or proud to have been trepanned by a shaman.

“You should be.”

Why? Why should I be silent about the medicinal benefits of cannabis? Why should I be silent about others who experience a higher quality of life from using cannabis as medicine? Should PTSD patients remain silent when cannabis successfully treats their symptoms? Should the families of children who’s seizures are diminished to almost nothing after using cannabis as medicine be silent? How about those who use it while on chemo for cancer? Should they be silent also?

May the Peace of Our Lord, Jesus Christ be with you always.
