GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.(KJCT) It’s a campaign that's dividing a nation, but now it may be dividing a local party.

“It’s worse than that they’re useless. They’re actually trying to sabotage Donald Trump from getting elected,” said Matt Patterson who’s pioneering the Mesa County Deplorables.

Patterson, a former employee for the Republican Party, says the Mesa County Deplorables is a volunteer group with one goal.

"Make sure Donald Trump get as many votes as he can here in Western Colorado,” said Patterson.

I'm back from the scene; and here's my report:

There was a small army there waving Trump signs. It wasn't any kind of insurgent Republican group and I don't know why it was billed as such. It was the usual Republicans. As I predicted above, they were a couple hundred yards away on First Street (where they would be visible to the public) instead of at the front door of the local Democrat Party headquarters.

One tidbit I heard there was that Darryl Glenn, who over the weekend unendorsed Trump (but is still waffling), is getting financial support from Senate Conservatives Action, which is "the super PAC arm of the Senate Conservatives Fund." I don't think he has much of any other financial support. I haven't heard of them and don't know if they are GOPe; but their home page prominently features Ted Cruz and Mike Lee.

So, you think this is some kind of scam? Perhaps an attempt to preemptively co-opt and neutralize Trump supporters?

In the past, we have had a lot of trouble with false-flag people trying to embarass us. These people I was concerned about were not there. It looked just like the usual crowd one sees at Republican events. No one there surprised me by their presence. However, there may have been people who were significantly absent. (I'm not sure though because I got there as it was starting to break up.)

A follow-up report by a TV station implied that there is indeed a schism between lethargic leadership and party members who want more action to get Trump elected, and that the organizer and attendees of the rally were legit. There was a reporter there I know who is probably more knowlegeable than the TV people and he may have a report tomorrow. I'll compare what he says with what the TV people said and probably post something tomorrow morning.
