Mesa County Republicans abandon party; begin the Deplorables

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.(KJCT) It’s a campaign that's dividing a nation, but now it may be dividing a local party.

“It’s worse than that they’re useless. They’re actually trying to sabotage Donald Trump from getting elected,” said Matt Patterson who’s pioneering the Mesa County Deplorables.

Patterson, a former employee for the Republican Party, says the Mesa County Deplorables is a volunteer group with one goal.

"Make sure Donald Trump get as many votes as he can here in Western Colorado,” said Patterson.

I hope that if he wins, which I still believe he will, that afterward we can look into why it took a billion dollars to be able to speak from the heart and put America first. If he doesn’t, we’ll have more pressing concerns.

This word is being used to highlight evil said about us, but if there is a third party, the name should be victorious. Life and death are in the tongue.

Do you really think there'll be time to build a movement? That time was 10 years ago. If Klinton somehow manages to steal/slime her way into the WH, the 2nd Amendment will be gone within the year.

We'd all better start thinking about the worst-case scenario and what we'll do, because if she gets into office, it'll be at hand.

It will be a lot easier to take over the Republican Party than to start a new one. In many areas, the Republican organization is a mere skeleton, with enormous organizational holes.* You could easily become a Precinct Chairman or take some other position.

Actually, this process is well under way. A lot of frustrated Tea Partiers are becoming active in the Republican Party, and the old Rockefeller Republicans are quitting, dying off, or being replaced.

But it means a commitment of time and effort. Those who are serious about change will get busy.

I'm going to drive by this noon and see if I recognize any of them—partly to see if there are legitimate people I know and partly to see if there are others I know who have been involved in parody groups created to embarrass us. In-your-face demonstrations at the front door of the opponent's headquarters is a tactic I have not seen here before. Sign-waving from the sidewalks near major intersections or City Hall, or speeches from the front of the Old County Courthouse are the norm.
