Trump declares war on GOP, says ‘the shackles have been taken off’
The Washington Post ^ | October 11th, 2016 | By Sean Sullivan, Robert Costa and Dan Balz

Donald Trump declared war on the Republican establishment Tuesday, lashing out at House Speaker Paul D. Ryan (Wis.), Sen. John McCain (Ariz.) and other GOP elected officials as his supporters geared up to join the fight amid extraordinary turmoil within the party just four weeks before Election Day.

One day after Ryan announced he would no longer campaign on Trump’s behalf, the GOP nominee said as part of a barrage of tweets that the top-ranking Republican is “weak and ineffective” and is providing “zero support” for his candidacy. Trump also declared that “the shackles have been taken off” him, liberating him to “fight for America the way I want to.”

Trump called McCain “foul-mouthed” and accused him with no evidence of once begging for his support. The 2008 nominee pulled his endorsement following a Friday Washington Post report about a 2005 video in which Trump is heard making vulgar comments about forcing himself on women sexually.

“I wouldn’t want to be in a foxhole with a lot of these people, that I can tell you. ... especially Ryan,” Trump said in an interview with Fox News Channel. He said if he is elected president, Ryan might be “in a different position.”

In perhaps the most piercing insult, Trump said his party is harder to deal with than even Democratic rival Hillary Clinton, whom conservatives loathe. Yet he also released a new TV ad featuring footage of Clinton coughing and stumbling during a recent bout with pneumonia — signaling that few issues are out of bounds for his scorched-earth campaign.

The MSM will get Hillary elected whether we like it or not.

And it will be because the "pussies" on our side of the aisle give up instead of fighting. So many fretters and so few actual supporters.

We are, actually, in a true civil war.

A COLD WAR to be honest. Lets wait till after they finish stealing this election. Then things need to heat up.

This has never been tried before so I’ll just cross my fingers and hope he knows what he’s doing. Big time risk for a huge reward....nothing else has worked in a while now.
A house divided is not a reason for hope but perhaps we can still win in spite of it.

The thing is, it would not matter who the nominee is. The media would do the same thing to them as they are doing to Trump.

They HATE conservatives, PERIOD.

It's a good interview which needs watched in its entirety. The GOP war stuff is not the main thrust in my opinion. That is what others want to boil it down to in order to put the focus on Trump and the problems within the Republican Party and away from the Dems and Hillary. War with your own side isn't going to win the election.

We have a movement entrusted to Trump and we need him to slice off the stuff which is about something else. There is no point in losing to satisfy one's self. Trump has the shackles of the movement and he better realize it.

Think about it. If "we" are asked to vote for Trump and not the GOP down ballot, wouldn't you think such a scheme could only have been cooked up by Hillary? What a gift.

We have to have unity against the enemy, even with our weak members, to have the change we need. The house is elected again in two short years. Let's win, not disintegrate.

WaPo...says it is a scorched earth campaign? Really?
Sounds like it is a "Make America Great Again" campaign.

1992: Clinton 43.0%, Bush 37.4%, Perot 18.9%

1996: Clinton 49.2%, Dole 40.7%, Perot 8.4%.

The question that's been asked for years has been, "How would Bush (Dole) have done if Perot hadn't been on the ballot?"

How would Perot have done if Bush and Dole hadn't been on the ballots?

A dilemma - to vote for McCain or not. Husband and I not sure, friends not sure and my mother not sure. Can’t vote for Kirkpatrick, as she’s just another Hillary.

Vote for the Democrat opposition.

One Senator does not destroy the GOP majority, and he's not really worth keeping no matter the cost.

“accused him with no evidence of once begging for his support”

Umm, Trump would have been an eyewitness, and eyewitness testimony IS evidence, dummies.

For decades the Traitor GOP has aligned with the Democratic Socialist Party in their War Against America.

Thank God we finally have someone who’s willing to fight these quislings and Americans are cheering.

This is a God thing.

Trump WILL win for a lot of reasons.

One big reason is God is bigger than the Uniparty just like he was bigger than England, the greatest power on earth, in 1776.

I’m not sure I’ve thought this through all the way, but I had the thought that we should vote for the RINOS this time, even though they betrayed us and we hate them.

Here’s my logic, for what it’s worth:

If Trump wins, he will deliver a death blow to the GOPe mentality because everyone will know he did it without their support and even despite their obstructionism. Their credibility as power brokers within the Republican Party is shattered. Good.

If everyone holds their noses and votes for the RINOs this will accrue to Trump’s benifit, since the “long coattails” is always viewed as a mandate. Trump will also benifit if republicans hold onto the house and senate, even if they are half RINO.

I think reelecting RINOs may be viewed as empowering them, just when we want to punish them. I get it. But I think just the fact of Trump winning will put them in their place and they will have to be contrite. They will know what the voters choice was - Trump. They will know who the Alpha is.

I think the proper way to get rid of the RINOs is reelect them and then primary them next time.

JMHO

Like John Paul Jones, he has not yet begun to fight.
Thank you. John Paul Jones has now been added to the list.
This is an ongoing list of historical, popular, and Biblical people, as well as fictional characters and animals, that Donald Trump has been compared favorably to on FR:

I see your logic but just cannot bring myself to connect that line on the ballot for McCain nor my husband nor a friend I just talked with. Too many times told to hold my nose and vote even though it is against all my beliefs and values. On the other hand cannot bring myself to vote for the opposition, so it will be a blank, and I can live with that.
