The Republican Crisis (Nat Review still soiling britches)
National Review ^ | 10/10/16 | The Editors

Posted on 10/10/2016 1:14:18 PM PDT by pissant

The Access Hollywood tape that broke Friday afternoon sent GOP elected officials fleeing from the Republican nominee over the weekend in a truly historic rupture. Trump’s odds of winning the presidency were already long before the airing of the tape. With a swath of the party now in open revolt, they are longer still.

We understand the calls for Trump to step aside. Almost any other Republican would have a better chance of defeating Hillary Clinton, a dreary and corrupt statist who is the Walter Mondale or Michael Dukakis of our time, yet is beating her desperately flawed opponent. But this would require Trump acting the statesman, which clearly isn’t going to happen (he has said he will “never” leave). Nor are House speaker Paul Ryan, vice-presidential nominee Mike Pence, or RNC chairman Reince Priebus going to mount the hard-ball pressure campaign that might make Trump consider the matter differently. Pence praised Trump’s debate performance last night to the hilt and Priebus has been eager all year to bend a knee to Trump. Finally, even if Trump wanted to step aside, the process of choosing a new nominee and negotiating ballot access for the party’s designee this late in the campaign would be unprecedented and perilous in the best-case scenario.

Bitch Dowry and Bonah Oldturd are desperately trying to resurrect the "Trump is done" narrative that last night's debate emphatically killed.

Sorry ladies, it is your careers as so-called leaders in conservative (actually Republican) thought that is done. Conniving with the democrats and GOPe liberals to prevent a Trump presidency will not be forgiven, under any circumstances.

National Review needs Trump to lose. They have too much invested in their attacks against him since mid-2015 for him to not lose.

There’s no crises.
I’m voting Trump.

That’s it.

The crises will come after election day when the Cheap Labor Express Republicans find out they’ve been wiped out.

These moronic TRAITORS live in a different universe! There isn’t anyone, NOT ANYONE, out there, GOPer, Indie, turd party, nor other Dem, who can beat Hillary. Only Trump can beat her and MUST!

NR is on its last legs, no matter WHO wins the presidency! They shall be completely out of business in the near future.

Is there any weekly or monthly periodical that I can subscribe to that is still a good conservative publication. I’m going to not renew my subscription to Weekly Standard because of William Kristol’s ridiculous hatred of Trump. And Kristol has also soiled the other writers in the magazine.

re: Alpha males.

While we can’t defend what Trump said, he’s right, that it was “locker room” talk, or posturing, as men are wont to do.

All you women out there, I understand your frustration at how men can be. But I’ve spent enough time in locker rooms and construction sites; at all male locations. And can testify that the guys are not talking about the national debt.

I’ve heard this could actually give Trump that alpha male image, and attract support from black and Hispanic men. Such men, who tend to be more “macho” than the metrosexual types found on the upper west side, can identify with someone like Trump talking about girls.,

ON the other hand, even if they lean Democrat in politics, these types of men do not identify at all with Hillary.

“Almost any other Republican would have a better chance of defeating Hillary Clinton...”

Then how come Trump won the nomination? How could “any other Republican” have had a better chance of beating HRC if no other Republican beat Trump in the primaries? (By the way, I voted for Cruz in the primary, so this isn't coming from someone who has been for Trump from the get-go. However, I'm not so blinded by hatred for Trump that I spout arguments that make no sense.)

National Review has NEVER been in the black from the day Bill Buckley Jr founded it.

Taking no advertisements it relies on reader donations and behind the scenes sugar daddies cash input.

Who these are, dunno. But only when those cash cows stop propping it up will they fold.

“Almost any other Republican would have a better chance of defeating Hillary Clinton...”

Name him. Her. It. Them.

THERE ARE NO OTHER Repubbies who would compete.
Who are morally able to compete.
Who even WANT TO compete against Hillary. Much less beat Hillary.

Show me ANY evidence of ANYBODY ELSE who polls ahead of Hillary right now. Only Trump.

Too bad for these people that they look at every demographic and even primarily the GOP leaders, as barometer. All except the voters

It seems Priebus, now wavering in his true to form wimp fashion, was swayed when he went to a Trump rally

I’ll bet Lowry is as afraid to attend a trump rally as most Hilary supporters are of attending an abortion (her base of supporters)

Taking no advertisements

The NR I used to subscribe to took ads. Sometimes it was so few, you couldn't tell. It was a great magazine. Gone kind of seersucker since then, unfortunately. Maybe they'll be back after a few personnel turns.

Thanks for the cruel humor. What we are watching here is real alarm, the alarm that politics is diverging from a course quite a few very comfortable theorists seem to imagine was cut into granite. They're freaking out on the other side, too. It's worse.

Almost any other Republican would have a better chance of defeating Hillary Clinton, a dreary and corrupt statist who is the Walter Mondale or Michael Dukakis of our time, yet is beating her desperately flawed opponent.

Hillary is perceived in that light only after her opponent has forced that examination by enduring an avalanche of malice and remaining standing. She is most certainly no Dukakis or Mondale, she is something far darker, the back side of that monolith of smiling fools that encompasses modern establishment politics, the part that succeeds only because she has profited from shameless corruption and the connivance of the equally corrupt media. The soft side of that monolith cannot touch her, it doesn't dare. Can anyone in his right mind conceive of a poodle such as Yeb! Bush contending with that stinking, greasy bulldozer?

Trump can, and is, and the soft side of that monolith that consists of National Review editors knows that it is doomed either way. That's why the constant, panicked bleating. Either way, they lose.

That cannot be said of Hillary. She can win this if she goes dirty enough. And she can kill the country doing it, and she can walk away in a shower of illicit riches and untried crimes. And that's fine with the NR editors, because that way at least she might throw them the occasional scrap if they behave.

“NR is on its last legs, no matter WHO wins the presidency!”

I read National Review faithfully during the bent-crank violent rapist administration. I thought they were too tame even when WF Buckley was running the show, I had to augment with the American Spectator.

The left took control of NR and they are now part of the fake opposition. The Kabuki party's voice in print.
