It Wasn’t a Town Hall Meeting, It Was a Town Hall Ambush

Here are my top ten takeaways from Sunday night’s presidential WWE match at Washington University in St. Louis (viewer discretion advised):

1. Trump was loaded for bear. We have a saying down in Dixie: Donald Trump shucked it to the cob. His campaign was teetering on the brink. Republicans have abandoned him in droves. And yet, he came out and delivered a solid performance.

2. Voters were more interested in Hillary’s emails, not Trump’s locker room talk. Frank Luntz says his focus group gave Trump the win. As for the emails, he tweeted, “Trump’s tape is bad for him, but Hillary’s emails are even worse for her.” Luntz went on to say Trump is back in the race.

3. This wasn’t a town hall debate. It was a town hall ambush. CNN’s Anderson Cooper and ABC’s Martha Raddatz, disgraced themselves and their networks by ganging up on Donald Trump. When the audience cheered for Trump, they were told to be quiet. But when they cheered for Hillary, the moderators were silent. “One on three” is how Trump described it.

4. Hillary got rattled. Donald Trump knocked Hillary off her talking points and she was clearly rattled by his political punches. Off stage, one of her campaign staffers tweeted a profane message to Trump, “F*** you.” Not a bad job for a candidate who was also fielding attacks from Clinton spokesman Anderson Cooper and Clinton’s designated debater, Martha Raddatz.

5. There was no pre-debate handshake. It clearly demonstrated the level of anger and hatred between the candidates. But it’s probably best they skipped the handshake. The Mainstream Media would’ve accused Trump of inappropriate behavior.

6. Clinton won’t say Radical Islam. “We are not at war with Islam and it is a mistake and it plays into the hands of terrorists to act as though we are.” Well, trying telling that to the folks who were blown up, stabbed and gunned down in places like Orlando, San Bernardino, New Jersey, St. Cloud, Minnesota, Chattanooga, Chelsea, New York and September 11th, 2001.

7. Trump needs to stay focused on the issues. This presidential election was supposed to be about jobs and securing the border and protecting us from radical Islam - not repugnant locker room banter, overweight beauty queens or litigating the past. Don't get distracted by Hillary and her minions in the Mainstream Media.

8. Blaming Honest Abe. WikiLeaks released excerpts of Clinton’s speech to Wall Street where she said eh has “both a public and a private position” on policy issues. When asked about that, she said she was referring to President Abraham Lincoln. That led to the second best line of the night when Trump replied, "Honest Abe never lied. That's the difference between Abe Lincoln and you."

9. Best Line of the Night: Mrs. Clinton: “It’s just good that someone with the temperament of Donald Trump isn’t in charge of the laws in this country.” Trump: “Because you’d be in jail.” Watch:

Trump vows to get special prosecutor to investigate Clinton

10. Bottom Line: Trump proved that he is in the race to win the race. But we still don’t know how much damage was inflicted by the “hot mic” incident. And we also don’t know what, if any, impact Republican defections will have on the campaign.

I often wonder why our party does not demand debates with conservative journalists asking the questions?

This crap with the debates has been going on for YEARS!

And yet some MSM are saying Hillary won. She didn’t, BTW.

The pundits are hate Trump’s supporters more than they hate radical islamists.

Old Bob Sheiffer said “For one candidate to bring some women who supposedly had something to do with the other candidate’s spouse was just disgraceful.” I’m convinced he has no idea who Juanita Broaderick or any of the other women are. We’ve got senile old men acting as journalists.

But I’m sure what he really considered a disgrace was how the Trump kicked her wide ass.

The "hot mic" incident is a cause for more false outrage with the GOPe and the left.

It's attempted goal is to lump Trump in with slick willy to mute Trump's criticism of the rapist-in-chief.

Didn't work.

Yeah, but the M$M is more interested in the locker room talk, so that's all you're going to hear about from them.

Some of us remember the National Lampoon's 1964 High School Yearbook, which (interestingly) was edited by P. J. O'Rourke.

One of the memorable elements of that hilarious spoof was the page for the Yearbook Committee, which was printed in a font size much larger than anything else in the yearbook, and also which occupied both sides of the gatefold page.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++= LOL! That would make a great hashtag.

Or demand that journalists be barred from the hall entirely. Have the abbot of the nearest monastery ask general, open-ended questions about issues, and let both candidates respond and rebut. Ring a bell when time is up. Boring and old-fashioned, but that’s how a real debate is conducted. If we want a real debate and not a spectacle.

The fact that CNN was going into full scale meltdown mode last night tells you who they really thought won the debate, never mind what their phony poll said. If Clinton had really won the debate, they would have been relaxed, chatty, full of smiles and laughing. Instead, they were almost hysterical that Trump would call Clinton a liar, bring Bill’s victims to the debate, and how dare he said he would have his AG investigate her. They were quite the spectacle.

Dear Bob, these are alleged victims of sexual assault. No excuse for this dismissive attitude. You know better.

The term that best describes Donald Trump coming up against Clinton + two biased moderators is a “fair fight”.

Next time Trump should encourage them to bring in some more pro-Hillary moderators, interrupt him more and really ask slanted questions. He just comes out ahead every time.

If this is true....”Voters were more interested in Hillary’s emails, not Trump’s locker room talk.”, how can this be true.....”His campaign was teetering on the brink. Republicans have abandoned him in droves.”

It would be hilarious in the last debate, if he told the moderator to pep-up a bit and try to help Hillary....she needs it, and that it was OK if they wanted to throw some bogus questions at him or some slanted stuff. He could even suggest to the guy that three or four interruptions per question would be fine.

I think the audience would just start laughing and not take the thing serious anymore.

He’s done exactly what should have been done twenty years ago....treat all of this like some WWE-wrestling match and just play-act like some opera situation. When the wavy-haired guy sings....that’s the sign that the debate is ended.
