Roger Goodell Feels a Great Disturbance in the Force, Er, Profits
National Review ^ | October 6, 2016 | by JIM GERAGHTY

Everyone associated with the National Football Leagues has to be worried about this.

One of the current parlor games playing out in sports media executive suites is why the NFL’s television ratings have dramatically fallen through the first four weeks of the season....

it’s oversimplifying it to say Colin Kaepernick and kneeling NFL players are driving way football fans. But it’s a factor, and maybe the biggest factor.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that nearly one-third (32%) of American adults say they are less likely to watch an NFL game because of the growing number of Black Lives Matter protests by players on the field. Only 13% say they are more likely to watch a game because of the protests. Just over half (52%) say the protests have no impact on their viewing decisions.

Marketing 101—Pissing off your customers is not a sound business strategy.

Ask Target.

Or J C Penney.

Don’t worry... Brady’s back, so things are bound to pick up with his return. When Brady is in the conversation, it makes the conversation and the NFL more watchable.

So if the owners want to blame anybody for falling ratings it should Goodell, not a third string QB from a terrible team.

So, the return of one almost-40-year-old quarterback is going to undo all of the damage? I think not.

That's not even the question to ask if they want to know the full impact. (what's disturbing is that these enablers even need a survey to realize how fed up normal people are). It has reached the point where wearing NFL gear has become an endorsement of the BLM agenda. I wouldn't wear the gear if somebody paid me to do so!

Why don't they ask people if they're likely not to buy or wear NFL gear because this protest was allowed to fester? Why not ask how many people will avoid whenever possible buying merchandise from those who advertise in NFL games?

Um, which means that almost half say it DOES affect their viewing decisions. I don't watch the NFL anymore, nor will I until they discipline the anti-Americans.

Goodhell blocked the Dallas Cowboys from honoring murdered policemen. The radical left positions of the rest of the owners is quite apparent.

De-fund the left. Boycott the NFL, and let the sponsors know.

Goodell is NOT going to be fired.

He got the job because he had an unequalled track record when it comes to extorting hundreds of millions of dollars in stadium deals from local communities.

LOL

IDIOTS in the NFL!

They have rules for what the Players can & cannot wear on the Field but let these players not Stand for the Pledge!

They should’ve nipped this controversy the minute Colin wouldn’t stand by fining him $1 million dollars, then we’ll see how many other players follow suite!

JC Penney quit making the Big Mac chambray shirts and never came up with a good replacement and customer service was of no help.

These were cut nicely for tall and big guys and were excellent for outside work. I can still find some on ebay but it is not quite the same.

I am sure that’s why ratings are down for games that have nothing to do with Sir Brady. In facts, I’d say the patriots were more interesting than usual to see what happened with the back ups.

Nor have we heard much from Broncos LB Brandon Marshall, a month after he lost two endorsement deals over his support of Kapernick.

I don't think that was lost on his compadres.

Disturbance in the force?

Oil prices dropped from $140 to under $40.

Wheat prices dropped from $7.50 to under $3.00 per bushel.

Cattle prices have dropped 50%.

Yes, the force is truly disturbed.

Will the long term effect be companies going out of business and long term prices going back up? It is possible, but not assured.

Do such disturbances in the force cause people to be hungry. It has not yet, but it has happened in the distant past.

I was a fan since the 1960’s, I am one of those who have turned off the National Felons League.

I will never again oppress them by watching them play a game for millions of dollars.

First it's difficult to watch protests over the Anthem by spoiled millionaire athletes who would be hard-pressed to be barristers at a Starbucks without their talent at a game. Second, some of the rule changes are not helping:
* First they move the kickoff spot to the 35 meaning few returns
* Then they start moving the ball out to the 25 on a touch-back encouraging teams to deep kick the ball FOR a return.
* Then they put in draconian rules against played celebrations at the same time they encourage protests against national identity.
