Obama’s army of public relations staffers costs U.S. taxpayers $500M per year

President Obama hired hundreds of additional public relations employees to sell his administration’s policies, at a total cost to taxpayers of nearly half a billion dollars a year, the government’s chief watchdog reported Wednesday.

Mr. Obama added some 667 PR staffers between 2008, the last full year under his predecessor, and 2011, when staffing levels peaked at 5,238 — a spike of 15 percent during those years. The number has since slipped, but there were still nearly 5,100 PR staffers in the administration in 2014, according to figures from the Government Accountability Office.

That doesn’t include the more than $100 million spent each year to hire private spinmeisters to supplement the government’s PR efforts. And yet more money — nearly $800 million in 2015 — is spent each year on contracts with outside

The half-billion dollar army of DC staffers whose blood runs cold at the thought of a man who can sell his ideas by himself.

It's why the Media is flipping out - there are starving political consultants outside the doors of the headquarters of the network videobloggers and the journoblogger buildings...

He’s apparently very busy selling his signature brand of corruption to the voters.

Thank goodness we have the stalwart Republicans in charge of both houses of congress. Otherwise the total could have been a billion or more!

Public relations employees at a half billion dollars to sell his propaganda? Does this marxist/muslim usurper know how to work the system or what? He is far from a "community organizer". He is a full-blown crony marxist/muslim totalitarian.

Easy shutdown for Trump. The other alphabet agencies can easily be reduced, but shut down?

Trolling the comment section after every news article. Believe me they have become a lot more conservative since Hillary started running.

I suspect “PR staffers” is cover for what would once have been called “agents”. “Provocateurs”. “Saboteurs”. “Agitators”. “Minions”.

This is how their minions get paid. Soros gets maximum bang for his buck by passing them over onto the federal budget.

In the old days “agents” were paid by satchels of money under the table. Now you establish a foundation, or charity, or think tank, or PR firm, and all the money funding you is reportable to IRS, its all on the up-and-up. The public org chart looks relatively benign; only Soros knows the real org chart and who is really who.

Corruption on a scale heretofore inconceivable in the highest echelons of government.

They can not let a Republican win. What has been going on in our government under this administration is the biggest scandal the US has ever had.

The Ministry of Truth, or Minitrue, from Orwell’s “1984”.

The MSM does it for free. This is direct government agency stuff.

Another term that in the context of a political operation means the exact same thing as PR is “propaganda”.

Countless billions spent on propaganda to fool and deceive the American people. That’s what we’re talking about here.

Man, am I naive. What the H are public relations staffers? Why are their any? I can see maybe a staff of 20, but come on, $500 million worth? Further evidence the whole government bureaucracy needs a Trump reset. Trump would fire 90% of them.

All the people employed in this “effort” should be arrested...and beaten. Are people so hungry for a job that they will do things that show they have no integrity, morals or conscience? How pathetic...how disgusting. I guess they would say they were just “following orders”.
