Why Iran is more dangerous than Islamic State
Los Angeles Times ^ | September 29, 2016 4:00 AM | Moshe Ya’alon

U.S. political leaders of both parties argue that destroying Islamic State is America’s top priority in the Middle East. In reality, that’s not nearly as important as confronting the challenge posed by Iran. The nuclear deal that went into effect a year ago may have postponed the danger of an Iranian nuclear bomb, but the multifaceted threat of a militaristic, messianic Iran — 80-million strong — is much more menacing to Western interests than the Sunni thugs and murderers of Raqqah and Mosul. […]

From Tehran’s perspective, it gained much more than it gave up. In exchange for postponing its military nuclear project, it achieved the lifting of many economic sanctions, an end to its political isolation and the loosening of restrictions on its ballistic missile program.

And out of the P5+1’s exaggerated fear of taking any steps that might give the Iranians an excuse to scuttle the deal, Tehran won a lot more too. This includes wide latitude to advance its influence throughout the region as it no longer fears a U.S.-led “military option.” …

No, Iran isn’t worse than ISIS. This is just Sunni/US Establishment propaganda. They are bad and do lots of bad things.

But in Mideast terror and in projecting terror into America, no they aren’t. Every terror attack I remember has come from our allies the Sunnis and has been paid for out of the Gulf States and Saudi Arabia.

The Sunnis have given us Beslan,
Paris,
Belgium,
London on 7/7,
Madrid,
Boston,
the sidewalk in Nice,
two Russian airliners in the same day,
Moscow theater,
a train in St Petersburg,
San Bernadino,
Fort Hood,
The Florida Nightclub,
the Woman beheaded in Oklahoma,
The Cartoon contest in Texas,
9/11,
the WTC bombing,
Blackhawk Down,
the Shoe Bomber,
the Underwear bomber,
Egypt,
Libya,
Luxor,
Boco Haram,
Syria,
Erdogan,
East African Pirates,
Bali,
Hiding out Bin Ladin,
An explosion in opium and heroin production,
Boy rape in Afghanistan,
etc etc,,,

And then ISIS has given us a level of barbarity only matched by Pol Pot and the Nazis.

Iran is bad, but they are not more of a threat than ISIS. This is just Sunni propaganda.

There are several Sunni nations that have had the bomb for many years; I think we know who they are, and they are not “moderate” either. When did their first terror nuke go off in a target country?

Only Pakistan can I recollect; and they have nukes as a balance against India; and Pakistan has had some secular leaders and; even then, it has been a sensitive situation.

The Iranians were trying to get centrifuges as far back as ‘91. I had just started working for a company and we were raided by the FBI. No charges as far as I know, but the company’s brochure had pictures of one of their centrifuges. It was as big as a SUV.

It’s not just Iran, if that isn’t a big enough threat. It’s Iran + Russia, the ChiComs, North Korea, and several marxist regimes in Latin America, all of which are tight with Iran and Russia, particularly Venezuela.

And about 9000 Jews live openly in Iran. In Saudi Arabia, the Gulf States, and ISIS areas... not so much.
I also have my doubts about the “experts” that tell us Iran is a worse threat.

Then they talk about nuclear bombs. Sunni Majority unstable Pakistan has about 130.

Well, I agree that ISIS is a bigger threat to the US than Iran. But the author is a former Israeli defense minister.

Makes you think, don't it?

I'm not knocking Ted Cruz, but he has said this, I think Rubio has, probably a number of others. The thing is, is we don't know for sure, we don't know Iran is going to nuke other countries if they get nukes.

Bill Clinton, in return for a large campaign contribution/ bribe allowed the export of encrypted missile guidance systems to the Chinese. This ultimately resulted in the US Navy’s presence in the Persian Gulf untenable. The Chinese developed state of the art stealthy shore to ship missiles which they needed to control the Straits of Taiwan. These missiles were sold to the Iranians who used them to fortify the shores of the Persian Gulf. The big blue water capital ships of the US Navy operating in the narrow ,shallow gulf would be very vulnerable despite their impressive defensive weapons. Those stealthy missiles would have a flight time of less than 30 seconds to target. If fired in conjunction with other less sophisticated ordnance, the US Navy faced a debacle worse than Pearl Harbor in less than 15 minutes. Iran of course would suffer a devastating attack but the damage to the US would be done. The US would then be involved in a bloody long war with no clear strategic advantages for a US “victory”. Obama no doubt decided for many reasons to alter long standing US policy and acquiesced to the bizarre mullahs obtaining nuclear weapons. The Pakistanis quickly assembled nuclear weapons with a far less sophisticated nuclear infrastructure. It didn’t take much convincing to persuade Obama to no longer confront Iran. However it would be short sighted to neglect the role that the Chinese supplied missiles had in the strategic equation.

Not so sensitive that they have thought to send a nuke or two our way. Of course, if the Taliban were to take over there, the calculus changes radically.

“There is no such thing as M.A.D. with Iran.”

Yeahhhh, there actually is. They are big talkers, and are quite happy to send others out to die. But if they are as ready to die as you say, nothing is stopping them from attacking Israel today.
Nothing is stopping them from attacking a Carrier.

They are like the autistic kid everyone says can’t act right. But they never seem to get around to picking a fight with the biggest meanest kid in school.

They want a bomb for the reason other small countries do. It makes you invasion proof. They know Saddam would have never been invaded if he had a nuke. Same for Khaddafi, same for messing with Assad.

While I do think Iran is a serious threat, ISIS is a more immediate threat. Iran has wanted to destroy the US for at least 30 years, but ISIS is the one sending suicide missions out all over the world on a weekly basis. They are already here in this country, more on the way thanks to Obama, it’s only a matter of time before we see more and deadlier attacks here in our own back yard.

Iran is one to definitely watch, only a fool would turn his back on them. If they manage to get a missile with the range to lob a nuclear warhead or direction, I have little doubt they would use it.

What worries me is right now, we don’t have the military to handle a serious attack from a capable opponent. If Iran had got their hands on a nuclear weapon capable of reaching us 10 years ago, they would have thought twice, we had the strength to use as a deterrent. Even the wackiest maniac wouldn’t attack a country 5 times its own size or more with the strongest military in the world. Now, not so much. Fortunately we only have a few more months of Obama, but then how long will it take Trump to rebuild a military that will make most antagonists stop and think twice?

I don’t think it will take Iran 10 years to get nuclear weapons capability put together, then the whole world is in jeopardy. They will start WWIII without a second thought, they sincerely believe they have a religious duty to destroy us. Our way of life is in direct conflict with their religion, and they have hated the US for many years. When they chanted Death to America, they meant it. From an article I read a few days ago, one of the recent missiles they tested had “Death to Israel” painted on the side. Israel will be their first target, that’s our best advantage, it will give us a little warning.

Between the two, Iran and ISIS - trust me on this one - climate change is NOTHING...aside from the fact that it’s a hoax, of course...

So you agree with Obama then, and disagree with a former Israeli defense minister.

ISIS is a sock puppet distraction. Take note that Obama helps both them and Iran.

Israelis come in all flavors. And I support Israel as much as anyone, but their agenda is not always in synch with what ours should be.
