FReeper Dale Reed has passed away

Received a message from his wife that Dale Reed has passed away. Dale was a long-term conservative activist and a FReeper since nearly the beginning of Free Republic. He was one of the founding members of our Southern California Chapter. Dale and his wife and several members from Southern California were present at the 1998 picnic and meeting in Fresno where our activism efforts through chapters were basically born.
Dale was a good man, a patriot and great supporter of FR and our conservative activism efforts and will be greatly missed.
Prayers for his wife and family.
May his soul rest in peace.

I always enjoyed his posts: Short, direct, and unapologetic. Same here...no BS from Mr. Reed. You had a bone to pick with him? He made it real easy for you to contact him...no hiding behind a computer monitor.

Met Dale years ago during the March For Justice. Back then a bunch of us would meet up in an IRC chat room. I’m sorry to hear of his passing. May he rest in peace, and may the Lord bless and comfort his family and friends in their loss.

Aw crap.
I hate to hear this.
I really liked his way of simply telling it straight up, no nonsense and no pussyfooting around. He shure called them as he saw them, so to speak.
I even razzed him years ago that he was FR’s very own “Walter”. (of Jeff Dunham fame)
Though I never knew him outside FR I always suspected that he was actually not the grump his posts suggested. Happy to hear I was right about that.
He will be missed.
