DEVELOPING: At least one person was killed and dozens more were hurt after a crowded train slammed into a busy station in Hoboken, N.J., during the Thursday morning commute, investigators and local media reported.
The woman who died appeared to be standing on a nearby platform before the crash, a law enforcement source told Fox News, adding that the engineer was pulled from the train "semi-conscious" and rushed to a nearby hospital. People pulled concrete off bleeding victims and passengers kicked out the windows amid crying and screaming.
At least 65 riders were injured, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo said, citing recent reports. Paramedics rushed at least 11 people to the emergency room at Jersey City Medical Center, with three of the patients in serious condition, hospital officials said. They added that none of the injuries was life-threatening and described 40 other patients who arrived by bus as "walking wounded," saying medical staffers were evaluating them in a cafeteria.

Yes. Thank you. I hate everyone (including FOX) trying to make out RR to be the bad guy for not having some safety NAZI thing. Undoubtedly there is a good reason...poor ROI or something considering how little this happens. Maybe if it is cheap to upgrade it would be done.
I just picked up my parents last night from Amtrak NE corridor. (Frankly I was worried more about terrorism and their own health than plain safety.)

Most stories are about what the train did not yet have for preventing accidents. Have yet to see anything about what safety devices are in place right now to prevent run away accidents.
Is there a "dead man's switch" that has to be pressed once a minute or else the engine will shut down? If yes, what happened that it did not work?

NJT serves some areas of New York on the West side of the Hudson River. I that particular train line goes into Rockland County, NY before transversing NJ and terminating in Hoboken.

This was terrorist sabotage, likely the brakes were cut and/or major safety features were tampered with. I am ASSUMING that this is an act of TERRORISM until PROVEN otherwise. Either the engineer did it or a terrorist did. The engineer claims he could not stop the train and doesn’t know what happened. If you read between the lines, authorities don’t believe it was a mechanical failure. Therefore it had to be an intentional act. How long does it take to check to see whether the brake lines were cut? Someone already knows whether safety features were tampered with. Why haven’t they told us?
This event happened a week after an attempted bombing at the Elizabeth NJ train station. According to an engineer I consulted, there are multiple safety redundancies which should have stopped the train. The MSM lied to us about the “Hispanic” male wanted in connection with the terrorist attack at Macy’s last week, instead of naming him the Radical Islamic Extremist Muslim that he is. From now on, I will ASSUME that unusual acts like these are terrorism until PROVEN otherwise. Fool me once, shame on the MSM, fooling me twice is not going to happen. Most Americans do not go on shooting and stabbing sprees or terrorize public attractions or infrastructure with bombs. Radical Islamic Extremists are doing so on a regular basis.

To this day we still know nothing more than yesterday basically. Something is not right here. NO ONE is even speculating on the possible causes, and the story has already disappeared from the MSM. One day later, story over. I’m not buying the “we need to wait a year to know” narrative.
