So what's different about 2016? The debate-as-litmus-test for likability doesn't apply. This year it's about unlikability. In other words, in an election cycle where both candidates are historically unlikable, voters aren't asking "Who do I like the most?" they're asking "Who do I dislike the least?"
Here's what Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton need to do to win the "least unlikable" award.
(Excerpt) Read more at washingtonexaminer.com ...
Hillary has raised (or lowered) the bar so much with her attacks all Trump has to do is come out and be professional and normal and he’s won. All the great unwashed will be saying, “Where’s this unfit psychopath I’ve been hearing about?”
Game. Set. Match.
Trump is so unlikable he’s ahead in the polls, right?
How is that possible? I’d love liberals to explain it to me.
Libs can’t even explain why they are breathing.
“voters aren’t asking “Who do I like the most?”
Is Bev’s a psychic?
They keep repeating that Trump is historically unlikeable and hoping it’ll stick.
Stadiums are full of people just there to see if he’s as unlikeable as they’ve heard. /a
This has been a consistent observation by the professional smart people, and the fact is that Trump is affable. They are really misreading the political landscape.
No, Beverly Hallberg...
... WE like our candidate. You do not. Get it right.
BTW the fact that she doesn’t like Trump means we are right in our trust.
Hillary needs to show up and start talking.
Trump: Breathe
Clinton: Die
Trump is not particularly unlikable. Hillary reminds me of a stereotypical witch/stepmom/evil elementary school teacher/terrible elderly neighbor (no offense to the elderly unless they are terrible). Trump can be blunt. Good. He certainly wasn’t my choice for the nomination, but he’s certainly my choice in the election.
Trump’s imagined unlikability is not the reason his life has been public for decades. People didn’t make The Apprentice a hit show because they hate the Trump.
The only reason Trump is “unlikable” is because that is the meme the media has been pushing since he declared his candidacy. It is just like the memes about his “instability,” his “untruthfulness,” etc. Every single meme that the media has tried to float about Trump is, in fact, a characteristic of Hillary’s that the media has been trying to deflect. The media is playing the childish “I know you are, but what am I?” game.
There's going to be a debate tonight drawing record amounts of viewers, the most watched debate in history between the 2 most un-liked/not likable candidates ever...got it.
Hillary could solve her likability real easy and quick.
All she has to do is say on national television tonight “I AM A TRAITOROUS, HORRIBLE, CRIMINAL, RICH (off the little people’s backs), MURDEROUS, BITCH”.
Then pull out a gun and blow her brains out on stage.
Based on this premise, all Trump has to do answer his own questions seriously, but slip in criticism of the policy failures (Arab Spring, Benghazi, rise of ISIS), and integrity issues (missing $6 Billion at DoS, email/security risk, sale of office) that make Hillary unfit to serve. She will have to respond and will sound like a defensive witch.
