Republican vice presidential nominee Mike Pence said Sunday that Gennifer Flowers will not attend the first presidential debate and that Donald Trump floated the idea to “mock” Clinton campaign efforts to district voters by “playing games with front row seats.”
The uproar about inviting Flowers, the woman with whom Clinton's husband, former President Bill Clinton, had a sexual encounter, started last week.
Dallas Mavericks owner and outspoken Trump critic Mark Cuban on Thursday tweeted: "Just got a front row seat to watch @HillaryClinton overwhelm @realDonaldTrump.”
A Clinton aide later told CNN that the Democratic presidential nominee’s campaign had indeed invited Cuban, which prompted Trump to tweet Saturday that he had invited Flowers to the debate Monday night at Hofstra University, in Long Island, N.Y.
“Gennifer Flowers will not be there,” Pence, the governor of Indiana, told “Fox News Sunday.” “The tweet was actually mocking effort by Hillary Clinton and her campaign to distract voters.”

They would have been more appropriate and more effective invitees but Trump didn't think of them when he tweeted is reaction to Cuban. Lost opportunity.

Sometimes it does seem like he's unaware of who is at the top of the ticket.
Ok, well that is not unequivocally saying that she will be there, so I guess I can accept Mr. Pence’s and Miss Conally’s statements.
I think Juanita Brodderick would be a better distractive choice, if that’s the intended tactic.
Have Katie Shelton show up and put her in the front row. Don’t announce it beforehand.
There’s no “walk back.” Trump said “perhaps.” pay closer attention to what Mr. Trump says before you declare a “walk back.”
Of course Flowers isn’t coming, Juanita is coming.
Having said he was might invite Flowers, and now having his campaign saying that they won't invite Flowers, there is no way that they can now say, "We're inviting Broderick." Nobody would believe them.
Katie Shelton would be better.

OK, I’ll walk back my walk back. I see now that it would take attention away from the stage, away from the Candidate. No clear payoff. It is the right decision.
