Cruz supporters alarmed by possible Trump endorsement
Washington Examiner ^ | September 22, 2016 | By DAVID M. DRUCKER

Ted Cruz supporters were alarmed Wednesday at suggestions that he was on the verge of endorsing Donald Trump.

They worry that the Texas senator could squander his brand as a fighter — and goodwill earned among many through his stubborn refusal to back his party's nominee — if he caves with nothing to show for it.

Cruz has held out on the grounds that Trump is insufficiently conservative, and because Trump attacked his wife and father down the stretch of their heated battle for the Republican nomination.

The senator even took the extraordinary step of declining to endorse Trump during a televised, prime time speech delivered from the stage of the New York businessman's own nominating convention.

“Remember, it is of Alinsky to polarize, personalize, and freeze. That, however, only damns to hell and could cost you a future friend that would prove useful.”

If you think that lying, backstabbing toad could ever be anyone’s friend, or be useful in any way, more power to you.

I didn’t Alynski the guy. He did it to himself, and I’ll never trust him again, because...well, he’s UNtrustworthy.

One of Ted’s supporters (who will remain nameless), however, IS about as dead as Dead Kennedy!!!! Ted needs to stop listening to obnoxious NeverTrumps, and Do The Right Thing!! John Kasich should do the same!!!!

“I think that DJT probably should extend a small olive branch to the miserable twit.”

Donald did that, when he gave the ungracious jerk a prime time speaking slot at the convention, and what did the miserable twit do?

He slapped Trump across the face with his “vote your conscience” crap.

How many times should Donald get bit, extending his hand to that snake?

“Trump never attacks unless he’s been attacked first...”

Tell that to Dr. Ben Carson about whom Trump said egregious lies during the primary.

As for Cruz, he can look to Dr. Carson as an example of graciousness toward those who have wronged him.

Cruz (and members of his family) endured vile attacks that often had nothing to do with political positions, and did not endorse Trump at the convention (while making it very clear that he would never support HRC), but anyone who says he doesn’t love this country is mistaken.

It is a trait, by the way, that he has in common with Dr. Carson and Donald Trump. We need all of them on board to serve this Nation in this desperate hour.

“We need to keep watch over Trump to be Constitutionally-minded, and that won’t happen effectively without a Cruz endorsement.”

Unmitigated baloney.

If Ted cared so much about OUR Constitution, he would never have run in the first place - knowing that to do so, is in direct contravention to Article II, Section I.

We are only 46 days away from Election Day and we’re supposed to care whether or not, lying Ted endorses Trump? The man should’ve done a long time ago, but he didn’t.

Whatever he does now, is not going to make any difference one way or the other.

If Cruz endorses Trump, you’ll know he’s seen the internals and knows it’s a Trump victory and he wants to get on the train before it’s too late.

Endorsing now that Trump is pulling ahead will just expose Cruz even more as a self-serving phony. He’s dead to me no matter what he does now.

“I think getting TT to endorse is a good thing and would help the bottom line.”

I don’t think there are enough sore loser Cruzers left to make a plugged nickel’s worth of difference in this election.

The few wet diaper babies remaining, like Erickson, Levin, and Beck, can all vote for Gary Johnson, as far as I’m concerned.

Names of potential replacements are already floating around here in Texas.

“Neil Bush was on Cruz’s campaign...’nuff said.”

Cruz was an employee of Bush Inc. a long time back. Harley Lady said upthread that Ted is also in bed with CFR. We already know he’s married to Goldman-Sachs.

I mean, come on. What’s it take to convince some people?

Cruz 'endorsing' Trump ?

Rather like Arnold 'endorsing' Washington after accepting that British commission, no ?

It would be a transparently self-serving gesture on Cruz's part - an attempt to negate all the well-earned opprobrium - and unikely to sway the opinion of anyone who values integrity and honest humility.

He made a promise to support, he didn’t take an oath to make an endorsement.

God, family, country - most conservatives’ and Christians’ order of allegiance. Cruz didn’t refuse to endorse because of all the malicious, hateful things said about him, but because of what was said about his wife and father. A man who won’t stand up for his family isn’t going to be much use to his country.

I think Cruz will support Trump’s policies and, hopefully, both of them will be successful in their work to preserve this Republic.

2) Keeping his promise to support the Constitution was the more important promise anyway.

If Rafael had real support for our Constitution he wouldn't have run for an office for which he's ineligible.

He's a fake.

I think low-info “conservatives” were awestruck by Cruz’s “Tea Party” posturing and grandstanding... with no results.

“Ye shall know them by their fruits” applies to Ted Cruz in the Senate...

I hope he doesn’t think he has a hope in hell of running for the Presidency in the future. He still cannot prove his American citizenship unless his mother can confirm she was not a Canadian citizen when he was born.

I don’t care what Cruz does or doesn’t do any more.

I agree 100%. He's had plenty of time to lick his wounds and come around. After his debacle in Cleveland, he become nothing more than an egotistical, opportunist to me.
