A Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officer shot and killed an armed man named Keith Scott at an apartment complex Tuesday, while executing an arrest warrant. Angry street protests began almost immediately.
CMPD Chief Kerr Putney reiterated Wednesday morning that Keith Scott was armed when he approached officers in University City Tuesday. Putney said that officers gave repeated verbal commands for Scott to drop his handgun. He said Scott posed a threat to the officers.

Channel 9 obtained an image from the scene of the shooting that shows a gun on the ground near Scott’s feet as officers stood around him. Officials confirmed to Channel 9 that is the weapon they confiscated from Keith Scott. (sourcing)

They were reporting that he had an ankle holster. If that’s true that is pretty good proof the gun isn’t a throw-down. I’d like to see the photograph showing the holster. Presented to the press by the chief of police.

Actually, I shop at my local Walmart and my Kroger and my Ingles near daily. I try to hit each on days when they mark down food near expiration.
I like my Walmart. I live in a small northern Georgia county with about 30K people and 20% of them or thereabouts are on SNAP. They aren’t ‘black’ by a longshot. The 2010 Census pegged my county as 96% white, 1% black and 3% other (guess who they are.)
I try to make my visits to any of the three stores before 10 AM because that’s the time when I won’t see these brooding SNAP bitches hustling their cards; it upsets them to get up before 10AM because it upsets their delicate psyches.
I’ve seen this SNAP abuse at every place in my town; they go wherever the cheap shit is so they can spend their other EBT cash and welfare on wine, smokes and booze freely.
In the end, at least one out of five in my county (women) are scumbags. Why does Walmart always get singled out?

Yeah. Wal-mart has as many stores as most companies have employees. There was a case in Canada where the workers tried to unionize and they were getting government support. So wal-mart “fired” (my word) the store.
This is what they should do here.
On a side note, I used to have an acquaintence that had “off price” grocery stores in the pacific northwest and alaska. He had to close one in a central District neighborhood of Seattle because of all the vandalism and shoplifting. This is why those areas are “food deserts”.
Also, prices are higher in poor neighborhoods to compensate for all the “special challenges” doing business in those neighborhoods brings.
The local rag deliberately and intentionally said in the first sentence that a cop killed a black man, purposely omitting the word “black” before the word “cop”. This was done with full knowledge and awareness, in order to allow some people to continue with the fantasy that white cops are killing black men for no reason at all.

I read years go that dropping guns on perps got so bad in certain cities that the forensics experts began to take samples of dust and lint from cops’ pockets, then checking the perp’s gun to see if the lint matched.
