Hillary Clinton’s campaign and its allies are outspending their Republican counterparts by a factor of about five to one, according to a new analysis released Tuesday.

But the former secretary of State has failed to put away Donald Trump, and many anxious Democrats are baffled as to why the race remains so close.

Hey Jim - I looked that quote up the other day, for the first time in a long time, and I thought the second part of it described very prophetically his own failed usurpation:

“He added, “You can wrap an old fish in a piece of paper called ‘change.’ It’s still gonna stink after eight years.””

I'm happy to see them having to waste money on a usually solid democrat state like CT. That is a bad sign for Hilarity Clinton. I'm also happy to see that my vote might make a difference in CT for a change.

Hmm..."earned media" as opposed to paid media. Put more simply, if they're going to write about you anyway, why pay them to? This is the downside to the remarkable level of media activism against Trump: if you're going to participate in a smear campaign, you have to give the victim publicity in order to do so. They can stop any time they want not to give him free publicity. Or...well, you know, maybe they can't.

“He’s [Trump] a walking attention magnet, and interesting,” Davis said via email. “She’s the past and relatively dull.”

That might be the case anyway - it was with Yeb! - but in fact Hillary's problem is that she's invisible. Her appearances are largely to fundraisers with small groups of wealthy, elite donors that do not appreciate sharing the face time with the hoi polloi. They can't write about you if you're not there.

Which brings us to the real issue: canned commercials are what she has and they're 60's technology. They can't match up to the vibrant presence of live, unscripted exposure. What's more interesting, a shot of Trump ad libbing before a crowd, who might (to the despair of his handlers) say pretty much anything, or a framed, stilted shot of Hillary intoning carefully parsed non-language whose most signal characteristic is that whatever it is, it's deniable? One can hardly blame John and Jane Q. Public for not wasting their time.

And, as others have pointed out, she simply isn't a candidate. She is unpleasant, hostile, and grating, and if she were photographed in a tub of kittens one would be looking to see how many of their little heads she'd bitten off. Nor does she want to be a candidate. She wants to be the boss, period, and the rest of all this is simply an impediment from her being given her due by us lesser souls. You can try to repackage that all you want, but she's what she is.

I get very exacerbated with people who use big words to sounds smart.

In the 1800's British Parliament, Conservative Benjamin Disraeli is remembered for his political battles with the Liberal Party leader William Gladstone. Here is one of Disraeli's better putdowns...

"[Gladstone]...is a sophisticated rhetorician inebriated with the exuberance of his own verbosity, and gifted with an egotistical imagination that can at all times command an interminable and inconsistent series of arguments to malign an opponent and to glorify himself."

Aren't big words fun? Much better than 140-char Tweets.

My theory about why Hillary has concentrated on fundraisers since January.....she knows she will lose, the fundraising is to feather the nest in retirement.

Their bias is indeed obvious to anyone with a brain.

However time is starting to run short. Each and every day Trump gains a little more in the polls. We have all (myself included) been saying for months that the media has “only just begun” and back then we were right. But it’s almost October.

The last full month before the actual election is only a week away. (I came to this realization last night actually). I honestly don’t know how much longer the media is going to wait until they actually “begin”.

My point is I think they’ve already “begun” and are dumbfounded some of their best attacks (think the Khan stupidity as an example) haven’t worked.

I don’t say this to cause anyone to relax by any stretch. I do think there is something in the works that will be the definition of “October Surprise”. But I think the media has “begun” for a while now.

And they’re worried.

I find it amusing that this year we do not hear the liberals whining about how much is being spent on elections....perhaps because Trump is not spending the big bucks that Hillary is. Trump has discovered a new way to campaign without that waste of money.

But the media must be unhappy, because they are the usual recipients of most of those campaign funds. Their financial gains from election spending must be hurting because of Trump’s different focus.

I can only hope that Trump’s new ideas and approaches will also be seen when he wins. He’s pretty wise about how he spends his money; I am hoping to see that frugality in government spending.

KInda like, “It’s piece of pie.” instead of “It’s a piece of cake.” Or “easy as cake” instead of “easy as pie.”
