You’re right about Geer. And Ralph Waite, “pastor” or not, was a pinko too. Even ran for Congress in California at least twice as, of course, a liberal Democrat. Fortunately he lost each time because he was running in a somewhat right-leaning district and his fake persona as Good Old Fashioned Pa Walton wasn’t enough to put him over the top with the voters.

This isn't the first time Hollywood has done this...it happened in the 20’s until Hays (if I remember his name correctly) brought the public on board.
