During a press conference yesterday morning, amid desperate efforts to placate political pressure to maintain the narrative of a lone-wolf bomber - not terrorist - who may have "had a beef" and just happened to be a muslim, William Sweeney, the assistant director in charge of the FBI's New York division, stated unequivocally:
"There is no indication that the suspect was on the FBI's terror radar" adding that there was "no indication that there's a [terrorist] cell operating" in the New York area and had no information about Ahmad Khan Rahami's "path to radicalization."
Phew - so we can rest assured that all the money spent on systems and surveillance was not wasted and this was perhaps just some mentally unstable man (who just happened to be Muslim and taken a trip or two to Afghanistan).
However,as Bloomberg reports, 24 hours later, The FBI has changed its tune...
Suspected N.Y.-N.J. bomber Ahmad Khan Rahami came across FBI's radar in response to 2014 domestic incident in which police complaint was made, according to U.S. law enforcement official.
Rahami was flagged in the FBI's Guardian system, which is a general database of tips and reports of suspicious activity, said the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because of the continuing investigation into the bombs set off in Manhattan and in New Jersey.
It wasn't immediately clear if Rahami was ever interviewed by the FBI.
Rahami was arrested in 2014 on weapons and aggravated assault charges for allegedly stabbing a relative in the leg in a domestic incident, according to court documents cited by the New York Times.

Lone Wolf Pack is more likely.
Yup! Clearly, another agency has gone bad, at the top. With agencies like this compromised, IMHO, most all are compromised. When will it end.
His father reported that he was a terrorist. I’m not sure the FBI even comes with radar.
I would encourage everyone to read post 6 a few times and make sure you understand what that poster is saying...
He was supposed to beat his wife — not stab her.
Getting more serious, was this an immigrant? What ought to have happened under the existing law, a deportation?
Perhaps the Sheriffs should raid the place and lock down all data before it gets sanitized. I may be wrong, but I think the Sheriffs (and some police orgs) are the only remaining trusted groups.
A sad loss of integrity for a once esteemed agency
When was this?

As if anything should be an excuse NOT to be ready each day to meet God?
of course not ...
he was standing at the bus stop and put down his pressure cooker as he waited for the number 666 bus...
then he got distracted by his worries about the risk of his safety from radical American patriots and got on the bus and left his loverly bomb on the sidewalk...accidental like...and unintentional...
the waves of risk coming from those same radical American patriots vibrated so much the bomb went off...
It can happen that they get undercover pets who get out of control, so to speak. If not malicious, careless.
And you’d shortly be just as unhappy with that crowd of mortal sinners too. Because you looked in the wrong direction.
I know Trump cant fire some of these civil servants .... but he sure as hell can have some transferred to places like Greenland, or Antarctica . We have bases at both, remote offices can be set up. All those people have kids in school, friends and family in DC, they will turn in their resignations over night.
Why do we have an FBI if they won’t do their job?
However, since he was neither a Christian nor Tea Party member, the government employees let him slip through.
What else would you expect from the Former Bureau of Investigation?
To serve and protect our masters.
FBI = Two Tits On A Boar Hog.
Breaks my heart. I know a boy, from a bad side of L.A., wanted to be in the FBI his whole life, got a full scholarship to a very well known college, and is working hard in the Criminal Justice dept, has already done summer internships in law enforcement, and will probably make his dream come true. So sad for all of us who revere decent criminal justice to see what they have done to the FBI.
