Candidates who don't back Trump may not be allowed to run again, RNC chairman says
Fox News.com ^ | September 18, 2016

Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus on Sunday suggested he could say “never mind” to the “Never Trump” candidates should they try to make another run for the presidency.

Priebus said the former primary challengers who’ve refused to support Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump could face consequences if they fail to back Trump in the stretch-run to Election Day.

“Those people need to get on board,” Priebus told “Face the Nation.” “And if they’re thinking they’re going to run again some day, I think that we’re going to evaluate the process – of the nomination process and I don’t think it’s going to be that easy for them.”

Priebus didn’t specifically name the group, but Ohio Gov. John Kasich, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush are the most prominent ex-GOP primary candidates to refuse to support Trump.

Cruz and Bush were locked in particularly nasty verbal spats during the campaign with Trump, who termed his opponents “Lyin’ Ted” and “Low-Energy Jeb.” Though Kasich and Trump rarely went toe-to-toe, Kasich was the last Trump challenger to drop out of the race, and despite the Republican National Convention being held in Cleveland, the Ohio governor didn’t set foot in Quicken Loans Arena. Cruz spoke at the convention, but he was booed off the stage when he told the assembled, largely pro-Trump crowd to “vote your conscience.”

I agree. I’m so disgusted by these traitors and their disloyalty to our nominee and party.
Stick it to ‘em!

Many of us didn’t so much support McCain or Romney as we wanted our votes to defeat Obama because we knew Obama as president would damage the country. I get that some Republicans don’t like Trump. But I do not get how these never-Trumpers could think 4 years of Hillary would be better than 4 years of Trump. At the very minimum, they should keep quiet.

Probably did some asking around and figured out he needs to sound like he has a pair now.

I agree. RP has earned my respect. I think he got behind Trump at first because it was his job but he did it well and really stepped up to the plate. Kudos!

Good for Priebus!

The so-called Republicans who aren’t supporting Trump, the R nominee, should reregister as Democrats and stop pretending they are Republicans.

Really? I hadn't heard that. It's funny how fast the media dropped her.

Another benefit from Trump. Confidence breeds confidence and those around him will quickly discover their spines. I’m not saying Pence wasn’t before, but he’s been getting progressively stronger. It would be nice to be represented by people with spines. I haven’t seen anything close since Bush and Cheney and even W withered.

It’s looking like Reince might be finally growing a backbone, but I still have to be hesitant, I’ll believe this when I see it.

Priebus did get a little more of my respect not long ago when he started to give trump some solid support, but I’ll have to see him back this up before I start holding my breath.

In a tweet saying, “We must have president Trump, we can’t have president Clinton,” it appears that Fiorina, after months of silence, is jumping on the Trump Train.

Priebus has seen the real polls, and now knows that Trump is a heavy favorite. So he can have a 6-figure job after Trump is elected, or watch the Republican party implode if Trump loses. The Dems aren’t going to offer him such a job, although a RINO might. Strange that other Republicans haven’t made the same calculation. Perhaps the lobbyist money is just too good.

I’ll chip in to get him to switch. He’s nothing resembling a conservative anyway.

And THAT should be the measurement of a Republican.

The fact that there has to be a conservative party, which I recently switched to, means republicans aren’t going down that route enough.

I think so too. I think at some time they sat down and had a face to face, and Trump made a big impression. Ever since, Reince has been backing trump, and has caught a lot of backlash from the GOP status quo lemmings for it.

It was touch and go at first, but sometime around the convention, Trump and Reince got their ducks in a row and it looks like they’ve been on the same team since then. He’s gotten some respect, but I still won’t hold my breath...I would like to see him make good on this one though, I’d love to see every one of the Never Trumpers watch their political careers sprout wings...I said from day one they should never be allowed to run for office again. Not even dog catcher...
