TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Authorities say a robbery suspect somehow made off with a Terre Haute police car despite being handcuffed behind his back.
The Tribune Star reports that officers had placed 28-year-old Cody Tryon of Terre Haute in the back of the patrol car.
Police say that while unattended, Tyron kicked out the metal screen separating the front and back seats, slid through the opening and drove away.

Police using GPS caught up with him elsewhere in Terre Haute. They say Tyron rammed several squad cars that tried to block the stolen vehicle before he was again taken into custody.
Police say his hands were still restrained behind his back.
If he’s a skinny little bastard he probably jumped the cuffs, leaving his hands in front of him. As others have said, take the keys with you, officer!

Judge:” Not guilty of robbery. Guilty of $18,000 damage to County property!”
Cody Tryon: “Your Honor, uh, does that mean I can use the money I stole to pay the damages?”
Sure, why not?
Recall that during the Teapot Dome trials,
one guy was convicted receiving a bribe
that another guy was acquitted of giving.
I hate to see someone waste their talents. Under different conditions who knows...
Cirque du Soleil might want to send him an application.
A friend of mine in law enforcement had this scenario in training. They hired actors to act as criminals and one of them was a bit of an escape artist and he had his cruiser “stolen” in the scenario.
