Americans of color to the rescue? Thats how MTVs Ana Marie Cox sees it. Appearing on todays Morning Joe, Cox said: I feel like if Hillary Clinton wins in the fall, it will be because the black and brown people of America have saved us, like they do a lot of time.
Cox, perhaps best known as founder of the Wonkette blog, was preceded on set by Marcela Valdes of the New York Times, whose recent article noted the lack of political engagement in Latino culture [emphasis added]: through all my conversations, I began to fear the real roots of political engagement, which lie not in quadrennial outreach programs but around dinner tables and in churches and classrooms, are far more absent from Latino life in America than most people understand.

If a black or brown person said, “Oh, white people are going to save us, like they so often do,” wouldn’t that person be called a stupid, self-hating individual, even a race traitor? Well, that’s exactly what this idiot white woman is.
I am 63 now. For the first four decades I did not practice or witness racism. I had friends that were Asian, Hispanic (at 16 I was the only gringo in a Hispanic Band), and my best friend for years was a black guy.
For the last twenty years this has slowly eroded not because I have changed. The Rats have pushed us back to the 50s if not the 30s.
Dont forget, black and brown people built America
Yes, Bob it is. It’s worse now than it was years ago. MTV is no longer Music.
and if Hillary loses she knows who to BLAME
Dirty little secret is that black and brown people are increasingly coming into DIRECT POLITICAL CONFLICT with one another. Their interests are increasingly diverging. This will eventually rip the Democrat Party apart.
Do Latinos care more about brown ad Mexico than America?
Most do. Some legals understand melting pot.
Lord, I hope you are right, but I have little faith in the “black and brown” communities. There are always some who wake up, though, so we shall see
The President can do a lot of good for our country if he just starts firing and starts prosecuting various members of the Executive branch.
80% of the entrenched Federal Bureaucracy are members of the Democrat party. Fire 40% of that bunch just for starters.
Black people I had never seen before came to our polling place in 2008 and 2012. I ran for city council in 2011. I knocked on every door twice. The only place I could not enter was the Section 8 complex on the outskirts of the Ward. We had an open Mayor’s race in 2011 also. Those Barack voters didn’t show. They won’t show up this November either.
My suggestion that he get out and ask for directions, and we'd keep going if he lived through it, was not well-received.
On the plus side, we *did* find the BBQ joint (not in East St. Louis, BTW). Place was pretty dumpy, eating off planks, put on sawhorses, drinking cokes out of Mason jars. It had some of the best ribs I've ever put in my mouth. Drewes Custard for dessert made it a good-eatin night.
But it didn't start well.
Yup. I’m OK with apathetic Dem voters.
Obama has made a lot of us reassess this idea of a color blind society. All he had to do was not make everything about race, and he couldn't even do that.
He has made a lot of people believe that you aren't going to be allowed to be colorblind.
Also, by being a complete bungler, he has reinforced racial stereotypes that he would have eroded had he behaved in a sensible manner. His arrogance and stupidity have had the effect of making the racists look correct.
Obama has been a disaster for race relations.
Locality is different than color.
So, black and brown people will get the blame when she loses?
All it would have taken was for him to say at his inaugural address something along the lines of, "This country had racial issues in its past, and there still is work to be done. But let me be clear, me standing here as the First Black President shows that we've made enormous progress in addressing the scourge of racism"....etc etc etc enter in your own pol-speak.
Instead he took the low road of petty politics, with cops "acting stupidly" and thugs "looking like his son". A small man on a big stage who wasn't up to the task, after all.
What an ignorant, racist statement. They built the whole world, not just America! They gave us Math, written language, the Pyramids, why they could even fly before the European white devils showed up and enslaved them. /S
“Wonkette” should move to Africa or South America if she thinks these folks have a lot of “saving” to offer.

I assume you mean former Executives from the Obama administration...
firing people in the government falls in the same category as smaller government...
never going to happen...
Having gone door-to-door in heavily Hispanic communities, and been active in their political organizatins, and lived with them, why they have low turnout has several reasons.
1. Like the Blacks, the Democrat ground game targets turning out Dems. So the Dem ground game avoids the minority Republicans. A hard working, religious minority who does not vote is far more politically conservative than a hard working, religious minority who does vote.
2. In the old country voter turnout was probably high. But that was due to intimidation and not because they felt strongly about one side or the other.
3. Many of those who don’t vote have a strong dislike for the Dem platform. But the feel attacked and excluded by Republicans ... especially the establishment.
In the past in Illinois the GOP establishment was a closed country club. When Black, Hispanic, pro-lifer, pro-choicer, FAIR-taxer or almost anyone would show up at a GOP event they would be made to feel unwelcome b the insiders. Those people who feel rejected by the establishment GOP are angry at the GOP. So why should they vote for the GOP?
FOR GREATER GLORY on DVD with Andy Garcia and Eva Longoria is a great depiction of the different types of Mexican political types.... At least 5 distinct different types of Mexicans politically.
