APPLE RELEASED iOS 10 to iPhone and iPad users on 13 September, but the update turned some devices into overpriced bricks instead of delivering new functionality.
iOS 10 was released to all at 6pm UK time on Tuesday, but those who flocked to install the update were quick to regret their decision.
Just minutes after the rollout began, social media sites filled up with complaints from pissed off iPhone users who, after trying to download iOS 10 over WiFi, found that their iDevice had been rendered useless.

>>This is why I wait a day before installing updates on any OS. Let the eager beta tester-types ruin their devices first.
Heck, under DOS and Windows, I used to wait for the first point release or service pack before upgrading.
One of the? They should be the biggest by far.
Anyway that’s utter nonsense and everyone knows it. Nobody here is buying that crap.
A retired, six year old iPhone 4S and an non-iOS iPod do not qualify you. You've stated in the past you do not use any Apple products. Your wife's iPad doesn't qualify you either, given your repeated attitude you've posted on here either.
No wonder it sounds perverted. Dang man, let’s not start using stupid perverse Brit terms. They’re usually dorky and a bit dumb IMO.
Can we just stick to “bellyup” here in the good ole USA?
Generally referred to as Tango Uniform.
Good snark.......
Why should they? Occasionally Exxon Mobile posts a larger profit than does Apple. Occasionally Apple posts tax credits that reduce their income taxes below those of a couple other huge companies that also pay a large amount of taxes due to large amounts of investments being made. On average it works out that they play leap-frog.
It is not "utter nonsense" as these are audited tax returns with easily discoverable facts and figures posted in Apple's 10-Q Quarterly and 10-K Financial Statements filed with the Security and Exchange Commission under penalty of perjury with huge personal penalties and prison sentences for the officers of the company for mis-statements of facts under the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002. The statement of the Effective Tax Rate in the US, including the actual amount paid in US Income Taxes is reported every quarter and year on those Financial Statements and has to be accurate, or those officers would be fined and imprisoned. It HAS to be true.
If you don't believe it, the problem is YOURS, not Apple's, that you are a delusional member of the Anti-Apple Hate Brigade and you cannot accept anything about Apple as being true.
That term (TU) is in regular use on TV over there. I think the only word that really is off limits starts with a C and ends with the letter that follows S
No “disaster” whatsoever. I updated 3 iOS devices with no problem and no “bricks”.
I updated my IPhone and Apple Watch to iOS10 last night without any problems. And if anyone is borderline technology challenged, well, enough said. :)
Yes it is....I can tell someone has a military background :-)
Why is Karma a bitch when it relates to a computer update? What do you mean by saying that?
Another term is “get your tit caught in the wringer.”
This means if you screw up, by not being prepared, or doing the task incorrectly you will wind up like this. Some slide shows even had a picture of a woman with one breast in a washing machine wringer. Used as an attention-getter for a room full of guys.
Titsup is the lactose-tolerant form of ketchup. Use it often at the Lab.
It’s a pretty effort on my part to tweak an apple fan who was making fun of Samsung yesterday.
I was on the phone with tech support for four hours yesterday getting my phone working after installing ios10.
They told me that it was because I downloaded it on wifi.
How cam you tell which way is up for a trash bag full of vanilla pudding?
Wow, that’s a heck of an update! I get updates on my Galaxy Note 5 about every 6-8 weeks, and they typically take less than 20 minutes. That’s full OS download and install, then local recompile of all installed apps (about 100 of them) to support the new OS (Android no longer executes Java; it takes the Java APK and compiles it locally for direct machine language, and that means a recompile when the APIs of the OS are updated).
I update my main work computer in less than 30 minutes as well (Windows 10 Enterprise). It should NOT take longer than 30-40 minutes to do any phone OS upgrade, IMHO - and it should work right out the first time since the system is supposedly completely reset.
Ah. I see. Just another day on FR then...
