Minnesota Democrats sue to have Donald Trump kicked off state's ballot

ST. PAUL, Minn., Sept. 9 (UPI) -- Minnesota Democrats have filed a lawsuit seeking to have Donald Trump and Mike Pence kicked off the ballot in November after the state party failed to follow election law in selecting the slate of names that will appear.

The matter stems from a legal technicality involving alternate delegates to the electoral college. The Minnesota constitution states electoral college delegates and their alternates must be elected at the party's convention. The GOP picked its electoral college delegates at the party convention on Aug. 24, but did not pick alternates.

When the party submitted its ballot paperwork on the day of the deadline, Aug. 29, it did not include that information. Party leaders were forced to scramble and did not have time to reconvene a statewide convention to fix the oversight, so the slate of alternates was chosen by the party's executive committee, instead.

Does this mean we can sue to have Cankles’ name removed from state ballots too?

Cool!

Your use of the term “firewall” is highly appropriate. To elaborate on your thought, massive voter fraud pumping up the vote counts in Philadelphia does not currently effect results in the other 49 states. With a system of popular election, there would be no reason to limit the amount of fraud perpetrated in these few corrupt cities.

Currently, it’s southern Illinois versus Chicago. Without the electoral college it would be Chicago, Philadelphia, New Orleans, and others against the rest of the nation.

They did follow the rules—zero alternates.

I guess you don’t give a rats ass about following rules. When you violate rules you leave it up to some judge to set you straight. In the case of not making a ballot, you would risk losing an entire state. You can denigrate me all you want that doesn’t mean it was a foolish risky thing for the party to do.

Here’s something your mother may have not told you. The fact that someone else doesn’t follow the rules doesn’t mean you shouldn’t follow them.

Go ahead insult me again.

That’s a great argument for court. If there is no requirement for a specific number pf alternates, then zero is quite a fine number.

You want a list of alternates? Here is it (blank sheet of paper).

And the MN Democrats have also banned write-in candidates because it discriminates against people who can’t write— ie, Democrats.

LOL !

If they win this case, Trump will have a ready made example of how the system is rigged against him.
