Sale of firearms that use bullet buttons surge ahead of new California gun law

A California gun shop sees sales of firearms that use bullet buttons to swap magazines sky rocket as new gun laws that will ban those types of weapons looms.

Christopher Lapinski, the operations manager at Last Stand Readiness & Tactical in Sacramento, told Fox 40 Sacramento that he’s seeing more people coming in to buy the gun before the law takes effect.

"The whole anti-gun movement, taking guns from citizens, literally has everyone and their grandmother buying firearms before they can't get them anymore because they want to be able to be protected," Lapinski said.

“Hillary wants American citizens dead.”

If she keeps up her illnesses she’ll be seeing that as a ghost herself.

I seriously think she is meant to die. I think the DNC is killing her. HRC/DW-S are enemies of BHO/NFP (Nancy Pelosi. I don’t know her middle name so I used F*CK. I think they are killing her.

Who makes that rig and what is the cost?

Have thought of using my el-cheapo Skil drill press, but it has no way of setting a fixed depth other than hold the damn thing as you might try and traverse the part.

Here’s a link:

http://www.harborfreight.com/two-speed-variable-bench-mill-drill-machine-44991.html

Yesterday their 20% off sale ended. With the hold down kit, some mill bits, a collet kit, etc. , I wouldn’t plan on getting into this for less than about $1k. You’ll also probably need a specialized jig for guidance in doing the work.

The big advantage of this mini-mill over a drill press is that a drill press is not designed to hold the cutting tool against lateral forces. If you don’t hold the cutting tool firmly enough, it will move downward in the chuck while “milling” and will cut too deeply, possibly ruining your work piece. Don’t ask how I know this.

Making your own gun is not a way to save money. In Kalifornia now it is not even a way to insure privacy of gun ownership.

I have learned a lot too. Digital readouts are at the top of my wishlist.

The inexpensive drill presses from HarborFreight have a mechanism for setting the maximum depth of drilling and a lock you can set at a particular depth. I would never try to do an aluminum lower with just a drill press.

There are polymer 80% lowers. I think a person using a drill press would probably be better off with one of those. Don't know how durable the product would be. The lower receiver in an AR doesn't typically have to endure much force.

My buddy mentioned that there is some little aftermarket / home brewed? magnetic device that goes over the bullet button which defeats the new law. Mag ejects are just as fast as ever. It comes off in a micro second if one of Moonbeams Jack booted Brown shirts shows up at the firing range

The mill is from Harbor Freight. It is sold online only. It was $600 when I bought it several years ago. It is $699 now. Harbor Freight frequently offers a great coupon deals for 20% and sometimes more. I used that to get it. Sometimes they show up on eBay for $300 or so but they are very heavy and shipping would eat you alive, if local pickup available it would be a great deal. Here is a comparison of mini-mills from Littlemachineshop.com

Now that I visualize it (I think) it seems the bit might try to “screw” itself into the part if too much torque was happening, pulling it out of the chuck.

Hawaii is better about firearms, but probably not for all that much longer unless the leftist tide is turned. Told the wife I am out of here to AZ if things go south, better for her than me heading for the hills.

defines any rifle with a detachable magazine as an “assault weapon” which must be registered.

I don't think that is correct at all.

So-called "featureless" rifles are still permitted to use detachable magazines. To be "featureless" a rifle must not have a pistol grip, a flash suppressor, a folding stock, a forward pistol grip, and maybe a couple more features that don't come to mind right now.

If you replace the pistol grip with a Monsterman Grip, remove the flash hider, and do without a collapsible or folding stock, then it is NOT an "assault weapon", a term invented to deprive people of their right to keep and bear some arms.

And a criminal will just file down the tab that prevents release without disassembly. Criminal incompetence on the part of CA legislators.

You are getting this a little bit backwards. The CA law does not require bullet buttons. The law requires that you need to use a tool to remove the magazine. The bullet button is a workaround that gun dealers devised in order to continue selling firearms with removable magazines. The legislators were trying to ban removable magazines.

What I’m saying is this roadblock is futile because misuse can easily be attained by slight modification.

Just leave the guns as stock elsewhere.

Cruise the various gun videos on You-Tube. Try Iraqvet8888 to start......there is a sheriff Matt that has a channel too. Matt looks to be a No Cal deputy. Looking at one leads to many others......

Soooooooooo... what’s to stop someone from inventing some kind of gadget that sticks to your thumb that fits in the hole? Then the gun is right back to being fully functional. This seems silly.
