I was hoping it would the Zero G Muslim Outreach lab.
Since it was to carry and Israeli Sat maybe obummer ordered it destroyed. Looking at his current and past behavior that isn’t unreasonable:-)
Not at all...Space X equipment has been pretty good. They had one rocket explode about a year ago, but halted flight and did a redesign on the weak link.
If you are thinking about the failed landing attempts that ended in spectacular explosions, those were all tests to see if it could be done, learning from the failures and making adjustments for the next time. Eventually they got it and they are able to land the boosters pretty consistently.
Guess it didn’t want to put Facebook’s satellite into orbit.
Just goes to show you the folly of vertical launch (which Burt Rutan demonstrated the superior alternative to).
...
Are you aware of all the problems Virgin Galactic has had?
Amos 6
1. Woe to those who are at ease in Zion, and to those who trust in the mountain of Samaria, who are named chief of the nations, to whom the house of Israel come:
to whom the house of Israel come
House of Israel, not the House of Judah. Important details.
Seriously, though ... I hope no one was hurt and that they can get back to the drawing board and try again.
It never made sense to me to launch from sea level when a higher elevation is available.
The media is reporting that the satellite was only Israeli made, it was actually owned by Facebook and was to provide Internet service in Africa, so I doubt it was terrorism, unless it was a really dumb terrorist who didn't realize that Israeli already got their money from Facebook and will now likely get another payout from the insurance company to build a second satellite.
Whoa!
Press release says the payload was lost.
Amos 6, so this was NOT the reused booster they are going to launch soon. That was a different customer.
You get the biggest boost to launch by being closer to the equator. The USA has not got many mountains close to the equator. Also it is handy to have a place with no people to the east so you can drop rocket parts there. The best place in the world to launch might be Somalia. Except that would be a terrible idea.
The satellite was to provide internet service to Sub Saharan Africa? Wouldn't they need electricity over there first?
Ailens.
Thanks for the education. I am paranoid and ignorant, a terrible combination for a Freeper.
