The first family of refugees arrived in Missoula this week, marking the beginning of the re-opened International Rescue Committee office efforts to make Missoula home to over 100 refugees over the next year.
Missoula IRC office director Molly Short-Carr says the family is doing well and just beginning to figure out how to use household appliances like their stove, and which foods they can substitute to make meals they are familiar with.
The family of six is from the Congo where they fled a civil war before 2005. Since then, they lived in refugee camps in Rwanda, Tanzania or Uganda. Several children come with this group, having grown up in refugee camps. They have never been in classrooms like those in Missoula's public schools.
Short-Carr, who just moved from the African continent herself where she was working with refugees, is expecting 25 refugees, before the end of September.
The local group Soft Landing is assisting the IRC with resettlement efforts and organizers are in need of volunteers and financial help to support incoming families.
The Univ of Montana at Missoula is there, so I'm wagering that the citizens of Missoula are either ignorant or on board with the program of this forced invasion.

“WE” are not importing these people. Our Muslim president is importing more Muslims. Islam is exactly same as cancer. You just need to create a few bad cells. In the beginning the victim feels no pain and is totally unaware of danger lurking ahead. Montana people will think the diversity of Muslims is good and harmless.
Keep in mind all these countries below began with just a few Muslims. Now they are all majority Muslim and most practice some form of Sharia.

Walk in downtown Mountain View, California and you’ll hear half the locals speaking foreign languages. It is really out of control.
It's been said by those from Africa brought here several years ago that many wanted to return to Africa. Their complaints were the work is to hard, the life is too demanding, the rules and how our life flows too complicated. They surmised that though we have a material wealth they would never have in Africa, that they were more free to live life itself.... The fact they could be returning to a conflict zone did not deter them.

I don't know how valid your IQ test information is, and I don't see how it's relevant, but if we accept anyone, it should be people who aren't Moslems, period.
At the very least, someone could coach them about not standing when the national anthem is played.

The Congo sits on one of the.. ‘Worlds largest reserves of natural resources’...but...remains one of the poorest nations in the world.
There are almost no roads linking the nation together...and the ones that are are controlled by over 50 warring rebel groups throughout the country.

We have many Congolese refugees in South Africa. A very high percentage of them are Christians - active Christians, not just the Christmas and Easter sort.
Many of them work as car guards in supermarket parking lots - not sure if you have anything similar in the USA. They help with unloading your shopping trolleys into your car and generally keep an eye on it. They are polite, reliable, and speak accented, but understandable English. They earn tips, but have to buy their own uniforms. They have taken over those jobs from the locals quite simply because of their reliability. In the mornings, at my local supermarket, you will see them huddled together praying before their shift starts.
In the block of flats in which I live, our general worker is from the DRC, also a Christian. Since he arrived in mid-July 2011, his wife has joined him and they now have 2 boys aged about 4 and 2. He has learned to drive and has passed his driver’s licence tests. He bought an old car which he has fixed up so it is now roadworthy and which gives him options in terms of getting around and being able to earn extra income. He has used his spare time to train as waiter in a decent restaurant. In fact, in many of the more upmarket restaurants, you will find that your waiter is from the DRC. They even dress up for church. Even the little boys will wear grey shorts and a white shirt and closed shoes and socks in summer, with long grey pants and a jacket in winter.
Although the refugees may well attend regular church services, many churches make their premises available for French services over the middle of the day on Sundays, after their regular services.
Don’t be too quick to assess them based on your experiences of Muslims who come from other parts of Africa. Islam is very much a minority in the DRC. Also, don’t be too quick to knock them about the average IQ. Starvation is rife in many parts. How would you do on an IQ test if the last meal you had was a small helping of corn or rice at lunchtime yesterday?
“Why are we importing these people?” Maybe we have a need for more Goat herders?
Different meat for your dishes... here are things I'd recommend -- McDonalds, Wendy, KFC and the zoo - if you are homesick for giraffe...
