Why Does NFL Order Cowboys not to Honor Slain Policemen but Allows Kaepernick to Disrespect America?

Posted on 08/29/2016 2:40:00 PM PDT by detective

The NFL allows Kaepernick to disrespect America and say we should not “show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color.” The NFL said the media support Kaepernick and his position. The same NFL denied the Cowboys the right to honor fallen policemen.

The idea was conceived by veteran tight end Jason Witten.

The "Arm in Arm" design honored the fallen officers.

Dspite that strong support from one of the league's most powerful franchises, the NFL has struck down the request for the team to wear the decal during the regular season or its four preseason games. The Dallas organization petitioned to use the decal, but it was denied.

"Everyone has to be uniform with the league and the other 31 teams," Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones told the Dallas Morning News. "We respect their decision."

What is up with Goodell and the NFL?

That's true, but it's really much simpler than that.

Nike is the NFL's sponsor for the league's uniforms. You can be sure that their contract has very clear language that restricts what can be added to an NFL uniform.

The NFL could have easily approved the small decal. They make the players on all teams wear pink for the entire month of October. A small decal is much less noticeable.

The NFL fines players all the time for trivial offenses. Yet they will do nothing about Kaepernick except to say they respect his opinion.

“What if a team wanted to put Black Lives Matter emblems on their uniforms? What if a team decided some gang symbol would be good to represent it?”

The NFL still has absolute control over everything about players uniforms. The small decal was almost unnoticeable but was strongly supported by the Cowboys. Allowing the Cowboys to wear it would not in any obligate the NFL to approve any other uniform change.

The use of "In Memoriam" decals is not all that unusual in the NFL. I'm sure that there have been any number of them allowed over the years. Here's just one:
Steelers to wear helmet decals honoring Chuck Noll

Pittsburgh Steelers helmets will include a decal this season to honor the memory of coaching great Chuck Noll.

The black decal will feature Noll's "CHN" initials in Steelers gold. Noll, the only coach to win four Super Bowls, passed away in June at the age of 82.

"We wanted to do something," Steelers President Art Rooney II said, according to the team's official site, "and after we talked about it internally that seemed to be the most appropriate thing we could do. The team will wear it the whole season."

The Cowboys should do it any way. Pay what ever fine that comes. Some things are worth it. The five Dallas LEO’s are worth it.

The NFL can do whatever they want. They know the fans won’t boycott.

I'm getting quite close.

The "N" in NFL doesn't stand for "National" anymore.

Because one bomb scare incident or one Muslim terrorist incident successfully carried out would destroy the NFL and all professional sports business models and profit projections within about two weeks.
The entire business model would be destroyed.
That is why , In answer to the question posited by the headline of the article.
