Absentee ballot returns show spike in unlikely voters weighing in on Florida’s primary
Miami Herald ^ | August 25th, 2016 | By ADAM C. SMITH

The political team at the Florida Chamber of Commerce has come across a remarkable trend this campaign season: A huge spike in mail voting by people who rarely vote in primary elections.

Almost half of the mail ballots returned so far for Tuesday’s primary election have come from Floridians who voted in either one or zero of the past four primary elections. That means a big, decisive chunk of the vote will come from people who have not been polled, and potentially not courted, targeted or accounted for by countless campaigns across the state.

“This is huge,” said Marian Johnson, senior vice president of political strategy for the Florida Chamber and one of the foremost experts on Florida campaigns and politics. “I can envision election night when the votes are counted that certain people win that nobody thought had a chance, and that being attributed to this trend.”

As of Thursday morning, more than 855,000 primary ballots had been cast by mail. More than a quarter of those votes came from Floridians who had not voted in the last four primaries and another 20 percent from people who voted in just one of the last four primaries.

In other words, these are not “likely voters” surveyed by most pollsters or targeted by sophisticated political campaigns. The trend applies to Democrats and Republicans alike and across the state, said Johnson, who was shocked when she first spotted the trend developing weeks ago.

“The first thing I did was go back to my data people and said, 'Are you sure you ran this right?’ ”

Obama should be praying that Hillary does not win. The Clintons like to “clean house” and Obama might find himself in a dark, wooded park with an uncontrollable urge to suicide himself and wth a couple of goons ready to help. N

I think it may be increased turnout to turn out the traitors.
Could be wishful thinking on my part.

As a former professional, I agree with you. This year’s general election voters may be our usual November voters, or maybe not. No one has any idea how many of them will still be interested in ten weeks, probably not even the casual Trump voters or the casual First-(almost)Woman voters. Election Day is going to be a wild ride.

Carlos Beruff is a wonderful candidate who is 100% supportive of Trump. It was with great pleasure that I voted for him in the Early Voting period this month. I pray he wins. Rubio will always be a war-monger, amnesty-loving, boy toy for the Globalists.

Go, Carlos, Go!

“Trump BE AWARE and get our military votes counted!!!!!!!!!”

Yes, absolutely. The military should have their say in our elections as they are the ones protecting the constitution that IS our nation. No group of people are cheated, or stolen from each election cycle more than our military men, and women. This has to stop. Why not now!?

I am one of those absentee ballots as I am out of the country for the 30th Primary (FLA>), but will be home for the General. I have been held up in voting twice 2014 and 2016 Republican Primary as they had sent me an absentee ballot but I went to vote in person. They would not let me vote until they checked out that I had not already voted by absentee or in any other precinct. This happened twice as I said. I didn’t mind waiting until they cleared me. Was glad they were trying to make sure. Funny thing was in the second instance I was a poll watcher!

The March Primary was the Republican Primary in which Trump won the state of Florida. The Aug 30th Primary is for Senator, various members of state and local positions including sheriff, etc.

Good for you.
I wish I could have.
I’d like to get the money back I sent him when he was posing as a TEA party conservative to run the first time.

You’ve forgotten that Trump received more votes than any other candidate in the history of the Republican Party. Something like 14 MILLION MORE.

Speaking of Senate primaries, anyone know if the Arizona primary is next Tuesday?

I think it’s time for Senator McCain to retire after many years of public service.

Those aren’t my exact thoughts on the subject, but my parents taught me to speak kindly of older folks.

I’ve read polls saying Rubio is way ahead but if Beruff is close or wins that would be a good sign for Trump.

Historically, and in my own 20-year elective career, a "heavy" early vote and/or a "heavy" election-day turnout almost always signifies a "protest" vote.

This exactly what we're seeing in early voting and what we'll see in the general election on Nov. 8.

The PEOPLES' PROTEST will be an uprising focused on immigration, jobs, security and ousting the entrenched Establishment along with all the rest of the controlling political, corporate, media, academic and money-controlling elite.

BTW, Trump will win Florida by a tsunami.

What is involved in registering to vote in Florida?
Must be a resident how long before eligible to vote?
Registration in person or by mail?
Thanks, Leni.
