West Virginia Democrat Sen. Joe Manchin’s daughter, Mylan CEO Heather Bresch, who has come under fire for her company’s widely-slammed decision to raise the cost of the EpiPen by 461 Percent since 2007, raised her salary by a whopping 671 percent during her tenure at the pharmaceutical giant.

Bresch’s annual income jumped from $2,453,456 in 2007 to $18,931,068 in 2015, coinciding with the astounding price increase on the life-saving emergency allergy shot, The Chicago Tribune reports.

In addition to her astoundingly high salary, Bresch reportedly took advantage of a number of unprecedented perks, including personal use of the company’s aircraft.

The EpiPen has served as a cash cow for Mylan, accounting for 40 percent of the pharmaceutical company’s operating profits in 2014. Its price has gone up form a wholesale price of $56.64 to $317.82 in just a few short years.

Easy to believe if this person was hired because of political influence.

yes, it went through all the FDA trials without a dosage problem and is used in canada without a dosage problem but within a few months of introduction into the US there were "reports" of dosage problems and it was voluntarily recalled and then subsequently terminated.

So either the thing was dangerously flawed and it was a miracle it withstood FDA scrutiny in the first place or they had real issues transitioning to mass production or they were told that (for example) the FDA was going to reopen the investigation and possibly a fraud one and they bailed rather than deal with all that. Who knows?

How much of the $19-mil will get rolled into the family's charitable foundation?

The Manchins surely have a family foundation, right?

One time, we had a very sick dog that needed regular steroid shots to live. We missed her monthly appointment by a few weeks and she was starting to go down hill fast. We had a supply of the steroid on hand that we bought in bulk and would take it in to the vet to administer. The steroid cost us $150 per month and if we bought it through the vet they would give her the shot for “free”.

This time however, they said that she was too sick. Since we missed her regular appointment, in order to give her the shot they needed to first do blood work at around $150. Then they would need to keep her for up to a week at another $1000. After all of that they doubted she would make it and recommended we just put her down.

I pleaded with them to just give her the damn shot. What is the worst that could happen?????? They refused without me agreeing to all of the other stuff.

I left with my dog and went to Tractor Supply and bought a hypodermic needle. We gave her the shot ourselves with the steroid we had left and nursed her back to health over the period of a week or so.

We found a new vet who will provide the medicine and give her the shot for $70. They are even o.k. with us stretching it out to every 6 weeks vs. 4 weeks. It has been a couple years since then and the dog is as happy and healthy as she has ever was.

This makes me wonder if the product getting yanked was political.

IIRC, NBC News last night reported it was her PhD that was rescinded for failure to complete the requirements.
