American journalism is collapsing before our eyes
NYP ^ | Aug 21, 2016 | Michael Goodwin

Donald Trump may or may not fix his campaign, and Hillary Clinton may or may not become the first female president. But something else happening before our eyes is almost as important: the complete collapse of American journalism as we know it.

The frenzy to bury Trump is not limited to the Clinton campaign and the Obama White House. They are working hand-in-hand with what was considered the cream of the nation’s news organizations.

The shameful display of naked partisanship by the elite media is unlike anything seen in modern America.

The largest broadcast networks — CBS, NBC and ABC — and major newspapers like The New York Times and Washington Post have jettisoned all pretense of fair play. Their fierce determination to keep Trump out of the Oval Office has no precedent.

Indeed, no foreign enemy, no terror group, no native criminal gang, suffers the daily beating that Trump does. The mad mullahs of Iran, who call America the Great Satan and vow to wipe Israel off the map, are treated gently by comparison.

By torching its remaining credibility in service of Clinton, the mainstream media’s reputations will likely never recover, nor will the standards. No future producer, editor, reporter or anchor can be expected to meet a test of fairness when that standard has been trashed in such willful and blatant fashion.

Isn’t this the paper who published nude pictures of Trump’s wife?

The MSM have been the willing twink for Obama since they propped him up in 2004.

How old is Tucker Carlson? 5?

If he'd been around during the Reagan years he'd know better.

Hard to even call the MSM “journalism” at this point.

They adopted the standards of Gawker, Buzzfeed, HuffPo, and Daily Kos.

Snarky, sarcastic, leading articles with opinion statements, and being riddled with errors that should never appear in a print publication.

My own city’s newspaper is just a printed blog with some sports news, obituaries, and classified ads from companies that haven’t figured out how to use Craigslist yet.

I actually spent time at an estate sale recently reading an old copy of the same paper from 1977 and feeling like I was reading Shakespeare in comparison to what we have today. it IS actually sad because it doesn’t need to be like this, but I know it may never go back.

Good morning.

Imho, journalism died circa 2008.

Now to bury them.

In defense of the Post, it was always a tabloid. Stuff like that is what they have always been known for.

Standards have collapsed so badly everywhere else, that tabloids are now seen as more legit.

The liberals constantly bemoan how money influences elections but have no trouble with millions of dollars of “in kind” contributions flowing from the MSM to the Democrats. More unconscionable hypocrisy.

Only old people watch the MSN and read a newspaper

Take a look at the National Enquirer when shopping

They must be pro Trump

Happened to go into the book store and everything is anti Hillary

Huge underground vote for Trump

But only five states really count

You just insulted twinks everywhere. Even they have more integrity and compassion than the MSM.

Don’t buy it, don’t subscribe to it, don’t read it, don’t watch it.

Well, unless you’ve got Trump change. Then, buy it. He could probably buy a network or two. :)

Elitist American traditional media is a collection of ass-sitting chair bound keyboard warriors who take direction from the powerati and then parrot out their horsesh!t in every way imaginable. Not a one of them actually gets out to drive by America to see what’s happening. They just call each other and agree how to slant their news for that day.

“Imho, journalism died circa 2008.”

It died long before that ... goes back at least to the mid 70s and the constant misreporting of the war in Nam as well as the yellow journalism of the Washington State Fish wars which only reported one side of the battles.

I'm 73 years old and don't do either.

Never let truth or “journalism” get in the way of the agenda.
