More than 120 Republicans tell RNC to cut off funds to Donald Trump

A letter that urges the Republican National Committee to cut off funds to Donald Trump has collected more than 120 signatures from current and former elected officials, according to the final version obtained by CBS News.

The letter, which will be delivered to RNC Chairman Reince Priebus Tuesday, includes two sitting members of Congress and 27 former RNC staffers, among many others.

"Given the catastrophic impact that Donald Trump's losing presidential campaign will have on down-ballot Senate and House races, we urge you to immediately suspend all discretionary RNC support for Trump and focus the entirety of the RNC's available resources on preserving the GOP's congressional majorities," says the letter, whose draft CBS reported on last week when there were already 70 signatures.

It adds that Trump's chances of winning in November are "evaporating by the day."

Reps. Reid Ribble, Wisconsin and Scott Rigell, R-Virginia, have signed the letter. Both lawmakers are retiring from Congress at the end of the year and Ribble had endorsed Ted Cruz for president during the primaries and Rigell recently endorsed Libertarian Gary Johnson.

The letter was signed by Republicans who have served in every GOP administration since President Ronald Reagan, nine advisers on the last nine GOP presidential campaigns as well as former congressional aides.

They warn that Trump is a threat to House and Senate Republicans up for re-election and that the RNC should only focus on those down-ballot races instead.

"We believe that Donald Trump's divisiveness, recklessness, incompetence, and record-breaking unpopularity risk turning this election into a Democratic landslide, and only the immediate shift of all available RNC resources to vulnerable Senate and House races will prevent the GOP from drowning with a Trump-emblazoned anchor around its neck," the letter says.

"Reps. Reid Ribble, Wisconsin and Scott Rigell, R-Virginia, have signed the letter. Both lawmakers are retiring from Congress at the end of the year "

Brave stand for two who are going to be working on K-Street next year. Say, isn't that where the other 118 "Republicans" work now?

-- I have an email from a couple of days ago from the RNC saying this is a false story by the media. --

The existence of the letter has been as a "draft," for 5 days or so., I odn't know that the RNC has received it even now.

I'm not sure what the RNC is denying, other than it isn't planning to defund Trump. That the signatories to the letter are requesting the RNC to defund Trump is, as far as I'm concerned, true.

The open borders / globalist wing of the RNC (which dominates the party) prefers the DEM party be dominant anyway. The goals of both parties are the same, and only the party in power has accountability.

That wing WANTS to lose this cycle, and bury the nationalist-inclined voting block forever.

60,000,000 minus 120 = 59,999,880

Gonna need more clout.

dware: thank you for the straight answer.

DonPaulJonesII : Please see dware's answer as an example of how not to be an ass.

I observe that Trump fans (and GOPe idiots before them) all remind us that a third party vote is a vote for (Hillary|0bama|Kerry|Gore|Clinton|Dukakis). Have either of you ever subscribed to that line of thinking?

Don’t get me wrong - I’m voting Trump at the top of the ticket. He will get my vote for one reason: He ain’t a “Republican” and he is exposing the GOP for the traitorous wretches they are. Down ticket will be write-in & third party, and I’ll simply never vote for another “R”, ever again, for any reason.

The only name I recognized on this list is Michael Chertoff. Is he the same one who did a really poor job as head of Homeland Security? And was it his company that was involved in making hefty profits from homeland security?

Yeah, and Trump said if they do that, he’s not going to continue doing fundraisers (I don’t blame him). For the record, Reince has said that they aren’t doing this.

I really had enough hearing about these people, these elitists who are so desperate to get Bush in there. or Romney or any other elitist snob.
I so want Trump to pull a major Reagan so we can give a little hope to this damned country.

I understand what you're saying. I'm simply applying the logic all the way down the ballot. If a vote for Smith the Libertarian is really a vote for Jones the Democrat when they're running for President, then it is also such when they are running for Congress, Governor, Legislature or Dog Catcher. I don't necessarily subscribe to that line of thinking, but it is quite popular on this forum and elsewhere.

That is the same person...

The reason I released the names is because I thought people would like to know the names, not that anyone would know or remember them, but they are the ‘Old Guard’ people...

And as another poster has said, we should keep our sites on the media and on the Butcher of Benghazi right now, but it doesn’t hurt to know some of who is stabbing us in the back either...

>>>What’s the word I am looking for...oh yeah...SHMUCKS!<<<

With any luck at all, these ‘SHMUCKS” will get ‘shlonged’ on voting day, right along with Hillary! :7)

Everybody is butt-hurt because he’s disrupting the bullys and good ole boys club. More evidence of the tentacles of corruption which is infesting the nation.
