A letter that urges the Republican National Committee to cut off funds to Donald Trump has collected more than 120 signatures from current and former elected officials, according to the final version obtained by CBS News.
The letter, which will be delivered to RNC Chairman Reince Priebus Tuesday, includes two sitting members of Congress and 27 former RNC staffers, among many others.
"Given the catastrophic impact that Donald Trump's losing presidential campaign will have on down-ballot Senate and House races, we urge you to immediately suspend all discretionary RNC support for Trump and focus the entirety of the RNC's available resources on preserving the GOP's congressional majorities," says the letter, whose draft CBS reported on last week when there were already 70 signatures.
It adds that Trump's chances of winning in November are "evaporating by the day."
Reps. Reid Ribble, Wisconsin and Scott Rigell, R-Virginia, have signed the letter. Both lawmakers are retiring from Congress at the end of the year and Ribble had endorsed Ted Cruz for president during the primaries and Rigell recently endorsed Libertarian Gary Johnson.
The letter was signed by Republicans who have served in every GOP administration since President Ronald Reagan, nine advisers on the last nine GOP presidential campaigns as well as former congressional aides.
They warn that Trump is a threat to House and Senate Republicans up for re-election and that the RNC should only focus on those down-ballot races instead.
"We believe that Donald Trump's divisiveness, recklessness, incompetence, and record-breaking unpopularity risk turning this election into a Democratic landslide, and only the immediate shift of all available RNC resources to vulnerable Senate and House races will prevent the GOP from drowning with a Trump-emblazoned anchor around its neck," the letter says.

Should Mr. Priebus do what they demand, I will tell you what I am going to do. I will vote for Donald Trump and them turn in my ballot. This, if followed through with is an act of treachery in its vilest form. If Mr. Priebus allows this to happen, every Republican that is now up for election will be defeated by the Democrat. And the next election will get the remaining Republicans. But they [the Republicans] will do as they please. Their attitude is that if we do not like it, we can go to hell. Well, I don’t like it and I am not going to hell, I will not vote Republican though.
Hahaha...these traitors are worried that the gravy train is about to dry up because a TRUE OUTSIDER may just work his way into the system.
It’s a scary thought to these worms to have a man who can’t be bribed with Xerxes’ gold in charge.
These are the prognosticators who backed Yebby? And the other 15 LOSERS in the primaries? A logical person would ask: “What do they know about chances of winning an election?”
I don’t believe that I recognize a single one of those names ...
The RNC is dead to me. I had a glimmer of hope when Priebus, in an interview at the Repub Natl Convention, said that those who signed the pledge received goods and services from the RNC in exchange, and he would be talking to the non-endorsers about it. At the very least, the RNC needs to send non-endorsers a bill for what they received.
Most people have never heard of them.
Former Bush Administration retreads go over well with the public.
LOL
I have an email from a couple of days ago from the RNC saying this is a false story by the media.
“120 republicans on the take from Soros.”
And the Clinton Foundation according to Paul Manafort.
I agree with all that.
Priebus, Ryan, McConnell, good grief what a trio of idiots.
I’m finding it more and more difficult to see how the Republican party will survive a Trump loss. This election has really laid bare the extraordinary gap between most in the party establishment and most in the base. If Trump wins, he should be able largely to keep the party together as the most important political figure in the country, who just won a national election. If Trump loses, I don’t see how the splintered parts of the party can ever fully reunite. There will be too many recriminations from both the open borders, globalist, neo-con side and the secure borders, pro-American interests, populist side.
We’ve held our breathes and voted for the establishment candidate numerous times, but we now see they will not do the same with our choice. They prefer the corrupt left-wing Democrat instead. Why should we ever vote for them as the lesser of two evils again? They clearly don’t care about their base at all.
former elected officials, and former RNC staffers. Lol!
The Big Man has Sh*tting Bricks!
Go Trump
That says it all, don't it?
As for me I will write in my wife’s name down ballot as I can trust her and can vouch for her conservatism. I’m through voting for the R after the name. Republican party has done nothing but stab me in the back and I’m supposed to just keep on voting for the R just because? No sir. I’m not doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result. Maybe you wish to do so. That is your business but I would recommend that you seek professional psychological help!
Third party/write in all the way down ticket.
Thanks for posting the names.
LOL !
NO Wonder Obama got everything he asked for.
No wonder Hillary isn't in Prison where she belongs.
Shabad? Shabad? Shabad? - Now, WHERE in the world have I
heard that name before? I thought “Rebecca” was a Jewish
name, though.
