Poll: Trump Arrests Slide (Morning Consult (Clinton 44 Trump 37)
Morning Consult ^ | 8/14/2016 | Cameron Easley

Donald Trump is more unpopular than ever, according to a new Morning Consult poll, but he gained ground on Hillary Clinton for the first time since the Republican Party’s convention in Cleveland last month, trimming her lead to 7 points.

In the new national survey taken Aug. 11 through Aug. 14, the GOP presidential nominee picked up 2 percentage points against Clinton but still trails her — 44 percent to 37 percent — in a head-to-head matchup. Part of the deficit can be attributed to defections within Trump’s own party: 77 percent of Republicans back him, compared with 83 percent of Democrats who say they’d for Clinton if the election were held now.

Independents remain evenly divided, with one-third opting for Clinton and another third backing Trump. Clinton maintains her advantage over Trump among men — 43 percent to 41 percent — and boasts an 11-point lead among women: 45 percent to 34 percent.

Following another tempestuous week for Trump, who was criticized for controversial comments about the Second Amendment and his accusation that President Obama founded the Islamic State terror group, his popularity is at its lowest since Morning Consult began asking voters about the Republican candidate last summer. Sixty-two percent of voters said they have an unfavorable view of the GOP nominee, with 51 percent saying they view him very unfavorably.

Trump’s popularity problem is most striking among minority groups: 67 percent of Hispanic voters and 78 percent of black voters view him unfavorably.

Twenty-nine percent of Republicans also view Trump unfavorably, and his popularity is even worse among those who consider themselves part of the tea party movement, with 39 percent of those voters viewing him unfavorably.

Clinton’s favorability also took a hit, dropping 2 points. She is viewed unfavorably by 58 percent of voters. After a few weeks of scant negative headlines, the former secretary of state came under criticism following the release of another batch of State Department emails, which raised questions about the Clinton Foundation’s influence over the Cabinet agency.

When accounting for other candidates in the race, Clinton leads Trump by 6 points: 39 percent to 33 percent.

Libertarian nominee Gary Johnson and Green Party nominee Jill Stein are struggling to gain traction with voters and, barring a major shift, are unlikely to make the debate stage scheduled for late September. Johnson, a former Republican governor of New Mexico, pulled in 9 percent of the vote, while Stein is the first choice for 4 percent of voters.

The national survey polled 2,001 registered voters, with a a margin of error of plus or minus 2 percentage points. See the toplines and crosstabs.

The JBW Nationwide Honest Poll was just concluded and it reads:

Out of 100,000 voters: Hillary Clinton was “favorable” to 3...
Out of 100,000 voters: Donald Trump was “favorable” to:99,997...

Note: This poll was conducted the exact same way as the MSM polls are conducted...

“...and boasts an 11-point lead among women: 45 percent to 34 percent.”

Whereas I don't believe the spread is this big with women, it is quite sad that so many women care more about gender identity and whatever resentments they may have, than they do about the men in their lives, or about the sons and daughters who died to protect America - and who didn't sign up to fight for globalism or for smug Washington pseudo-intellectuals..

National polls will skew in favor of democrats. Because larger blue states such as CA & NY & IL have huge surplus democrat votes.

For example CA had 5 million votes advantage for democrats in one presidential election cycle! Electorally, that is a lot of surplus unneeded votes.

So it all boils down to purple states. If the poll was limited to just FL, OH, NC, WI, NV, PA, IA then it would mean a heckuva lot more.

the polls are trying to manage expectations.

are they close? let’s check.

when there are two candidates, it comes down to both sides pulling out their base, trying to pull from their opponents base, while wrestling over the middle. with that in mind, look at the two candidates:

Trump — no one from the right will vote for hillary. all but a small group (the cruzies) will vote for him, and he’d score at least 50% of the independents. as a bonus, he will be pulling the blue collar vote, as he’s known as the blue collar billionaire

Hillary — she has a problem bring out her base, as 50% supported Bernie and now know she rigged the election. she might get half their vote. she won’t pull anything from the right, as they hate her w/ a passion, and she might get 40% of the independents (again, the BernOuts are very pissed off).

As you can see, she isn’t doing well at all. but what about those polls?

fictional. they’re designed to try and sway your opinion, to cast doubt on Trump and his campaign

We know the news lies. Why would it not lie about polls-given that the 1st report spawns multiple, verbatim spin-off stories? Why would poll organizations themselves not lie now, too? What IS THEIR DOWNSIDE?

It’s being posted now because this poll, flawed though it may be, is an improving poll and something of good news, in an oasis of crap that has been this week’s Trump’s coverage. You’ll find that most of the posters of these polls are diehard Trump supporters who try to provide perspective to the media spin. Check my tag line and posting history if you feel the need to.

Yes. Compared to what we’ve seen and heard. He’s up from last week, she’s stuck in mid to low 40’s, he no longer sliding, which means you will see an improvement in other polls out in the next 7-10 days, and, the internals are Rather suspicious. So given the mountain of crap they’ve thrown at Trump, this is good news.

The elites control the media, they control the polls, they control the voting machines, they control the laws, the politicians, and the banking system. They create wars for their benefit. In the past wars were fought outside of the USA but now they are importing people that will bring the wars directly into the USA. They need the instability in order to control the people. This is so obvious and yet people do not really want to believe that this is really going on. They are doing it in Europe and it will soon happen here in the USA. The second amendment is the only thing that is stopping the elites. It’s just a matter of time before the supreme court weakens the second amendment to the point that people will not be able to defend themselves anymore.

“Clinton maintains her advantage over Trump among men — 43 percent to 41 percent”.

I got this far. There is no way on earth that more men support the crooked bitch of Benghazi over Trump. Ain’t happening.

I can’t imagine anything will be ‘good’ for Trump as long as the MSM is reporting it.
