the polls are trying to manage expectations.

are they close? let’s check.

when there are two candidates, it comes down to both sides pulling out their base, trying to pull from their opponents base, while wrestling over the middle. with that in mind, look at the two candidates:

Trump — no one from the right will vote for hillary. all but a small group (the cruzies) will vote for him, and he’d score at least 50% of the independents. as a bonus, he will be pulling the blue collar vote, as he’s known as the blue collar billionaire

Hillary — she has a problem bring out her base, as 50% supported Bernie and now know she rigged the election. she might get half their vote. she won’t pull anything from the right, as they hate her w/ a passion, and she might get 40% of the independents (again, the BernOuts are very pissed off).

As you can see, she isn’t doing well at all. but what about those polls?

fictional. they’re designed to try and sway your opinion, to cast doubt on Trump and his campaign

We know the news lies. Why would it not lie about polls-given that the 1st report spawns multiple, verbatim spin-off stories? Why would poll organizations themselves not lie now, too? What IS THEIR DOWNSIDE?
