Was New York Times columnist Frank Bruni suggesting there could be civil unrest if Donald Trump loses big and bitterly? That seemed a likely implication of his comments on today’s Morning Joe. Bruni said his “fear” is: “what if he goes down big and goes down bitterly? I really worry about the aftermath. I worry about November 9th and forward in terms of what’s been stirred up.”
Washington Post columnist Eugene Robinson tried to soothe poor Frank’s fears: “We survived Bush-Gore 2000, we made it through that just fine and I think we’ll make it through post-Trump just fine, too.”

I think he has the behavior of voter demographics completely backwards.
He should worry about riots if Hillary loses. He should worry about finding a plumber or a doctor if Trump loses and Hillary raises taxes.
People on the right don’t riot.
Our time frame is much longer than that of that of people on the left.
I’ll simply prepare, stockpile, plant flags in other jurisdictions, and enjoy life.
And cause trouble, entirely legal trouble.

There are consequences for proving to people, once and for all, that their vote does not count and their grievances cannot be addressed at the ballot box.

New York is a great city, but it is hardly the embodiment of all reality in life. Living in the city is a specific kind of existence, and this carries all the same risks of having tunnel vision as any other particular environment one might live in. The problem is that too many in NYC and other cities think that they hold the keys to all wisdom, and that their views are the ‘enlightened’ views. To think that already ensures that you don’t.
