Why Are Voters So Angry?
City Journal ^ | Summer 2016 | Myron Magnet

Posted on 08/05/2016 10:24:30 AM PDT by TADSLOS

Haunting this year’s presidential contest is the sense that the U.S. government no longer belongs to the people and no longer represents them. And this uneasy feeling is not misplaced. It reflects the real state of affairs.

We have lost the government we learned about in civics class, with its democratic election of representatives to do the voters’ will in framing laws, which the president vows to execute faithfully, unless the Supreme Court rules them unconstitutional. That small government of limited powers that the Founders designed, hedged with checks and balances, hasn’t operated for a century. All its parts still have their old names and appear to be carrying out their old functions. But in fact, a new kind of government has grown up inside the old structure, like those parasites hatched in another organism that grow by eating up their host from within, until the adult creature bursts out of the host’s carcass. This transformation is not an evolution but a usurpation.

What has now largely displaced the Founders’ government is what’s called the Administrative State—a transformation premeditated by its main architect, Woodrow Wilson. The thin-skinned, self-righteous college-professor president, who thought himself enlightened far beyond the citizenry, dismissed the Declaration of Independence’s inalienable rights as so much outmoded “nonsense,” and he rejected the Founders’ clunky constitutional machinery as obsolete. (See “It’s Not Your Founding Fathers’ Republic Any More,” Summer 2014.) What a modern country needed, he said, was a “living constitution” that would keep pace with the fast-changing times by continual, Darwinian adaptation, as he called it, effected by federal courts acting as a permanent constitutional convention.

Why?
Crony Politics.
All the bastards in both parties are in it for the kick backs.

In public life it is a violation of the Rico Laws.

They are not “angry” until they riot in the streets.

“That small government of limited powers that the Founders designed, hedged with checks and balances, hasn’t operated for a century.”

Not since the 16th and 17th Amendments were ratified.

It’s not revenge we’re after. It’s a reckoning

Is a reckoning better or worse than revenge? Under a reckoning do those of us in DC have to make amends for our misdeeds?

The Democrats have figured out how to pay themselves without the need for tax money.

Meanwhile, GOPe is walking along whistling with its hands in your pockets.

I guess “a reckoning” is an evening-up or a settlement.
Not to worry, it’s just a modified quote from Doc Holiday in “Tombstone”

Because people with an ounce of pride and a measurable IQ don’t like someone pizzing down their leg and telling them it’s raining.

Remember guys: Hillary/Obama/Media/Democrats/GOPe are the idiots sitting in the floor of the china shop, hammer in hand, surrounded by broken plates telling us beware of the guy who never walked thru the front door.

In the 1990s, it was ‘surly.’ I remember Limbaugh doing a fantastic monologue on it.

Hate to tell you, but a significant part of the Country would cheer if D.C suddenly disappeared.

I daresay, MOST of us!

We want to be left alone. Quit trying to manage every aspect of our lives. What we say, do, have - and then taxing us on everything we own or do. Back off NOW!

Sums it up beautifully.

Are they angry? The 51% that put O'Dummy into office are too stupid to know anything one way or the other. Then there's the Repugnants.

If Trump gets elected, we can affirm that voters are truly angry. If not, America deserves what's coming down the pike, and they won't like it.

Since my son, daughter-in-law and soon-to-be grandson live in DC, I'll settle for regime change and the reduction of the size of government by about 70%.

When your ‘leaders’ have the country in the toilet and they’re getting rich off of it, then it’s probably time to change ‘leaders’.

or ‘la guillotine’
