Mike Pence ‘strongly’ endorses Paul Ryan, as Trump refuses to do the same

As Donald Trump holds off endorsing House Speaker Paul D. Ryan in Wisconsin's Republican primary, his running mate enthusiastically endorsed Ryan on Wednesday, calling him a “longtime friend” and “strong conservative leader.”

“I strongly support Paul Ryan, strongly endorse his reelection,” Indiana Gov. Mike Pence said during an interview on Fox News on Wednesday afternoon. “I believe we need Paul Ryan in leadership in the Congress of the United States to rebuild our military, to strengthen our economy and to ensure that we have the kind of leadership in this country that will make America great again.”

Trump has angered his party's leadership by refusing to endorse Ryan or Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) in their primary campaigns. Both Ryan and McCain have endorsed Trump but have remained critical of many of his comments, including Trump's ongoing public feud with the parents of a Muslim American soldier killed in 2004. Wisconsin holds its primary Tuesday and the Arizona primary is later this month. In an interview with The Washington Post on Tuesday, Trump praised Ryan’s underdog opponent, Paul Nehlen.

Pay attention. Donald Trump agreed to this. It is a tactical move.

“any Republican in Congress is preferable to Pelosi and Schumer. “

Assuming you can tell the difference between said Republican and Pelosi.

Left / Right paradigm ended long ago. It’s now nationalist vs globalist. Wake up.

This is no big deal!

Does it every occur to you people that the candidates agree on how they will address questions like this? Do you really thing Trump and Manafort are just going to send Pence out to say whatever he feels like?

He’s got a long history with Ryan and there’s probably enough footage of the two together and him saying nice things about Ryan to keep the media busy for a week showing what a liar he is if he did NOT endorse Ryan.

It won’t maatter to the good conservative voters in Waukesha county 1 when they go to the voting booth any more than what Trump was saying mattered to them when they went 60-22% for Cruz. What will matter is turnout and whether there are enough votes in the other counties (one of which Trump won and part of another) to send Ryan packing. What Pence says isn’t a factor.

Don't count in Gingrich to not sell our his conservative "friends!"

He did it to those he helped get elected in '96!

Gingrich stabbed them in the back to keep his "private affair with the lovely Calista" private!

Some of us have memories longer than two election cycles!

Conservatives in Indiana weren't sure Pence could get reelected after stabbing them in the back over his homo agenda sell out!

Gingrich is a pragmatist who understands how the federal government works

You don’t blow up your enemies
You embrace them, stroke them. and get them to work with you
while never ever trusting them

He was one of the most effective Speakers in terms of getting the Clinton democrats to go along with the “Contract with America”

Mike Pence is feeling the heat, he still wants to be on good terms with the Establishment.

Newt would likely endorse Paul Ryan as well, I think.

smart move by Trump
Pence gets to be the endorser
If Ryan loses, it was Pence’s bad call not his
If Ryan wins then he can work on Trump’s legislative agenda with Pence, which is what Trump wants his VP to do

“Now Trump is ok with endorsing RYAN?”

Reading comprehension isn’t your strong suit.

Trump is ok with Pence doing whatever Pence wants to do. Trump doesn’t control Pence.

On Fox Business Network this morning, Gingrich told Maria Bartiromo, “Trump is still behaving like as though it was the primaries and there are 17 candidates. He has not made the transition.”

He said that Trump is “not yet performing at the level that you need to” for a presidential candidate, making so many fumbles and not reaching certain standards.

Gingrich even went so far as to basically scold Trump for his refusal to support John McCain and Paul Ryan.

gingrichNewt Gingrich is reportedly one of the top Republicans staging an intervention for Donald Trump, and based on his comments about Trump earlier today, you can see why.

Yes, the man who was considered a top pick for Trump’s VP is pretty pissed off at him right now.

“Some of what Trump has done,” he concluded, “has been very self-destructive.”

But more damaging is what Gingrich told The Washington Post today. Let me emphasize these are quotes from Newt Gingrich:

“The current race is which of these two is the more unacceptable, because right now neither of them is acceptable,” Gingrich said in a Wednesday morning telephone interview. “Trump is helping her to win by proving he is more unacceptable than she is.”

Gingrich said Trump has only a matter of weeks to reverse course. “Anybody who is horrified by Hillary should hope that Trump will take a deep breath and learn some new skills,” he said. “He cannot win the presidency operating the way he is now. She can’t be bad enough to elect him if he’s determined to make this many mistakes.”

Agreed. It’s essentially saying to Ryan, ok my ticket will endorse you. However, note my position going forward as a caution to stepping out of line. When I win you’ll get access to the President but on my terms.

Doubt Pence would have done this without DJT’s permission. It is a token peace, not a rebellion.

I think you are right.

Dont let thie effing media discourage us!!

Please remember. I think Trump will pull a landslide we need to be patient and ever vigilant.

I know. I was non commital on Pence, also. He’s a player with RINO leadership and far from being a change agent, away from the UniParty globalist gang.

Sickening to see him go against Trump voters so easily.

I don't think Trump realized how far the establishment would go to destroy him......He really needs to get a close knit team together with Roger Stone over the weekend and come out focused and guns blazing.

I agree. Trump has to cut down the staff to a lean and mean and 100% pro-Trump close knit circle of advisors.

I thought Trump chose Pence as an act of good faith, that he was willing to work with the establishment. That didn't stop the elitists; their agenda is to destroy anyone who threatens their schemes and dominance.

This is what we have to convey: Sanders rounded up the dem dissidents, led them to their slaughter, and abandoned them. If Trump doesn't win, the InsiderParty will never let votes matter again, across the political spectrum, just like they didn't matter in the Democratic primaries. The elite won't even pretend they do anymore.

Um, check The Weekly Standard. They are reporting Newt saying both candidates are unacceptable and right now Trump is more unacceptable than Clinton.

This is not how you win elections. Don’t pick fights where you don’t need to and don’t take the bait.
